Just a gutless performance for 35 minutes outside of Sanchez, Harrison, and Jordan. They got thrown around. What is the deal with sitting Obekpa all game when we are getting destroyed on the glass? Really don't want that fourth foul, huh?

Lavin can talk about elbowing guys in the "chicklets" all he wants...he has a bunch of kids that should be wearin tootoos. He places no emphasis on rebounding the ball on the offensive side and we'll never be legit until he does. Maybe that is why his other talented teams always underwhwelmed.

They better deny the NIT invite...it's a disgrace.

Wow, from a year long cheerleader to a bona fide hater in one game; impressive! And for the record, we got destroyed on the boards all year, Obekpa or no Obekpa. You see, just too be consistent, we don't place an emphasis on rebounding on the defensive end either.

I will beat MJD to this; easy to say but how was he outcoached? We played hard 5 minutes out of 40. Now the copout is they are his players, etc......but this game was on the players. You LIVE to play in games like this and to play indifferently for most of the game is just something I can't understand.

Exactly! They played with some gumption during a brief spurt in the first half (when they hit 6 consecutive shots and took a 7-point lead) and during the last 5 minutes of the game. If Sampson had some more arse, then we could very, well be on here rejoicing talking about how great the kids fought and came back for a win.

Like Logen stated, you "LIVE" to play in these kinda games. I saw a nonchalant group with the exception of a handful of minutes.

After Dlo's banked three with 3 seconds left, I thought the ball went out of bounds off of cottons hands. It was very close. Why didnt the reffs review it? They didnt even discuss it. Ive seen it countless times this year but this time, when we really needed it, its like no such rule even existed.

I thought the same thing, mase. It looked damn close.

Why not review it? No one even mentioned it.

I was so disgusted I actually left the game after Henton put them up 17 with around 7 minutes to go. One of the few times I've ever left a game that early of any kind. Surprise, surprise, I get home just in time to find out we came back but lost anyway. More salt in the wound. Wasn't much of a showing from the St. John's fans, although we didn't have much to cheer about most of the game. Many Providence fans around me.

I think we're all a little emotional and upset right now. Maybe we need to all calm down and think before posting. Including me. This has been a bitter, bitter disappointment.

I did not pin this loss on Lavin, nor do I give him a pass as you and some others are doing. IMO if you cannot get your players motivated for a game like this(and remember Lavin is supposed to be a master salesman), then you have to shoulder at least some of the blame for the loss. But don't just look at today's game, look at the whole season . Are you telling me that you don't hold Lavin as accountable for not making the tournament this year?

Oh, I get it; every lost game is because the losing coach was outcoached!! The players really have nothing to do with it; kind of like two guys matching the Jedi use of the Force with the players as their pawns. Puts sports in a whole new perspective

This isnt the NBA: Lavin recruited and coaches these kids...this is ultimately his fault and the extension looks like a joke.

In sports, when teams underachieve, who gets fired? The GM and/or coach. And here, lavin is both.

For crying out loud Mike, get real. Lavin's not on the floor missing ft's, playing poor defense and missing chippies. Your hatred of him goes beyond all reason. I believe even if we had gone to the Final Four, you'd still want him out.

I dont hate him at all...im dissapointed in his coaching abilities.

I'm usually not one to blame the coach, but one Providence put the zone on us, I knew we were done. We had no solution to the zone all season, and today was no different. To me that's inexcusable that Lavin has no plan for the team against the zone at this point in the season.

You are so incredibly annoying old man winter. I don't care about wins and losses as much as I do about effort. They were gutless tonight. They don't deserve a bid and for me to say that...that's bad. If only they got as motivated by the jump ball as you did....

It's not really outcoaching, but Cooley's guys played hard, inspired basketball. Our guys played like a bunch of princesses. Second chance points says it all.

But that's a HUGE part of coaching. If our kids had come out full of piss and vinegar then we would be singing Lavin's praises(and rightfully so) for having them playing so inspired. Forget how we played for a moment, Cooley figured out how to beat us(a 5 1/2 point favorite) with little contribution from his best player. Hell yeah he out-coached Lavin today/. .

Its very upsetting Tony, and i get what youre saying about the free throws being on the players, but when you recruit too many athlets, and not enough "basketball players," missed free throws come with the territory.

Look we did not deserve to win this game. We got out hustled throughout the game. All that said; if the refs did not bail out Cotton when he lost the ball coming across the mid court line & we get the call on the Harrison 3 maybe it is different. Maybe if Sampson makes the layup on the fast break and we go up one, it's different. Who knows? We lost because we did not step up physically and mentally.
