Anybody see Sir Dom the last part of this season? Wow.. Lost soul.. Give Jordon lot's of kudos for the effort. Rest of the team not so much..
NIT bound. It is what it is. No recruits next year as of now - kinda disappointing season.. Lavin outcoached today.
I will beat MJD to this; easy to say but how was he outcoached? We played hard 5 minutes out of 40. Now the copout is they are his players, etc......but this game was on the players. You LIVE to play in games like this and to play indifferently for most of the game is just something I can't understand.
As the commercial says, it's not complicated. It's because they won.
Really? Just because a team wins, that winning coach has out coached the losing coach? Interesting. I'd never heard that before.
I did not pin this loss on Lavin, nor do I give him a pass as you and some others are doing. IMO if you cannot get your players motivated for a game like this(and remember Lavin is supposed to be a master salesman), then you have to shoulder at least some of the blame for the loss. But don't just look at today's game, look at the whole season . Are you telling me that you don't hold Lavin as accountable for not making the tournament this year?
Yes I do; I am just busting your chops. Lavin is a fair at best game coach. But, and I know a lot of people disagree, I coached for a good number of years and I do not think you can really "coach": effort and I think that is the major problem with this team. You can take away playing time but who do you bench on this team? IMO, NO ONE on this team plays bust it out 100% hard consistently except GG. So who do you bench? People, including me, have asked why we don't press consistently but we don't play hard enough to committ to pressing all game. One team I really admire is Cincinnatti and I met their coach at a HS tournament last year (sorry I have a brain fart and can't remember his name) but I asked him how he gets his team to play so hard and he answered instantly "I recruit hard because you can't coach it." If we played as hard as Cincy does on every possession rather than when we are down 17 (today) or 18 (Creighton) we would be legitimate national contenders. But regardless, at the end of the day I don't think we have players or coaches who HATE losing and therefore we aren't willing to pay the price mentally and physically it takes to win at this level; we certainly have the talent.
