Last time we went down to a game there we went to Pats and Geno's and I probably could have tried a third place :)

Rough ride home though. I was almost in food coma 40 minutes into the ride back

Not to get too far off topic but check out Goldbelly.com. You can have the cheesesteaks delivered to you. Just need to plan ahead a bit.
Brilliant Idea. Villanova Cheesteaks it is for delivery !!

Mike's teams play strong later in the season. That's been true throughout his career. It's great seeing the Johnnie's on a four game win streak. It's impressive that 3 of them were road games.

Is it enough to beat a team like Villanova? I wouldn't count out the Johnnie's just yet. I think they'll be competitive at home and will play well. Anything can happen in the last few minutes of a basketball game.

The Johnnie's need to keep the score close and give themselves that opportunity to win at the end. This game is a gut check for  the Johnnie's. They have to win a few tough games to get invited to the big dance. Beating Villanova would be quite note worthy. But it's going to be a tough game.

Hopefully Posh will be well prepared to face Nova's 3/4 court diamond pressure. Can't dribble through that one, that's exactly what they want. Great test for our young stud. .

Gillespie doubled up on flopping practice this week

If any Nova players read this forum I'm willing to compensate you for your time to bring me up some cheesteaks

I thought Nywie picked them up on the flight back from Milwaukee, word is he never landed but scooped them up on a fly-by on the way back to LaGuardia.

I agree with a prior poster, I hope we practice against the backdoor cutting; Nova is great at it, and it is a vulnerability for us and teams that guard tight.

Like the old Red Holzman Knicks, oft quoted by Walt Clyde Frazier:

"SEE THE BALL/ SEE THE MAN".

This is a reality check game.   Yes, we are improved, no question.   How much improved?   We will see.  UCONN fans are already dismissing our win because they were missing their best player.   Marquette has been up and down.   Butler, DePAul, Georgetown all figure to finish 7-10 in league.    This is a golden opportunity to show just how good this team is.    All of Villanova rotation players can make threes and will shoot when open, they move the ball well, they are coached well.   When you have 5 guys who shoot the three, it's easier to open up leads when you get on a roll.   This IS as close to a neutral court as any game we've played them, because, as pointed out, they outdraw us in the Garden.

Quite frankly, this is our guys chance to show that we can play with the best teams in the country.   Do we have to win - no.    But if we want to have a serious dream of post season, this is the game for our guys to make their mark.

One game is one game; would it be great to play well, to win? Of course it would.
Is it make or break one way or the other? Absolutely not, because regardless of tomorrow's outcome we have games left to play, 6 and the BE tournament I believe.
So if we beat Nova and go 1-5 and lose the 1st round BE game, the victory means nothing. If we get blown out and then go 5-1 and play in the tourney say to Friday night, the loss would be far in the rear view mirror. So, yes, right now I am hoping like hell for us more than anything to play well. Once the ball goes up, I will be rooting like hell for us to win.
But either way, the season outlook will remain to be seen regardless of how tomorrow plays out.

I'd obviously be thrilled with a win, but am hoping for a competitive game. Fact is, none of the teams we've beaten recently are close to Nova level. Without Bouknight, UCONN is just another middle of the pack Big East team. We've certainly improved, but it's gonna take a magical game by us, and a horrendous game by Nova, for us to pull off an upset. As Logen said, this ain't a make or break game for us. We'll play hard and hope for the best.

You mean a magical game like this:

Last place team 0-11 in the conference beats the No. 1 team in the country for their first league win.

Winable yes, in theory almost every game is winable (except beating Georgetown in the final 4 in '85) but in realtiy, not in theory, alot of things have to line up just right for us to pull this off.

Nova made a pretty good (though down) well-coached Seton Hall team look pedestrian the other day. Wright's got Nova looking like they are on their way to another long run in the Big Dance.

While I agree with what Logen and Monte are saying, if we can somehow pull off a win it will add to the growing confidence the team has because they will know they can beat anyone in the Big East on a given night.  Confidence can be an amazing thing and can carry teams to wins going forward.

I'm not sure I agree with the "magical" and "horrendous" disparate adjectives but I understand your point. I think poise on the offensive end resulting in good shots as opposed to quick jacks is a must. I know someone already mentioned it (but I forget who) but very impressed with Champagnie's play passing to Wusu late as opposed to jacking just because he could.

No question about that, agree 100%.

Ok, a bit extreme. More like Brookjersey said, we'll need a number of things to fall our way.

St. John's coach Mike Anderson tells me Greg Williams Jr. (back) remains a game-time decision.
