If we lose tonight, would have to win 2 of the next 3 (with 2 games being on the road). I’m fairly confident that a team with a losing conference record isn’t even eligible for an at-large bid.
Last year 5 teams from a few different conferences made the NCAA Tournament at 8-10. We absolutely could make it at 8-10... I just don't want it to come to that.
Whatever, but I do not want us to limp into the Dance, get a lousy seed, and lose the first game.
That’d be a sour taste for a year and sure the hell wouldn’t appeal to recruits.
I never said I'd be happy with that kind of a finish (I even said so in my post you quoted), all I'm doing is correcting incorrect statements.
‘I never said you said’, you’d be happy with a lousy finish. Lol.
The bottom line is I dread limping into the Dance,
Let’s pray and hope for a big win tonight.
All of us realize this is a huge game.
It would also seem the heavens re-align, we avenge that stolen first matchup, are in sole possession of 3rd Place, and better positioned for the BET and the NCAAs.
Let’s go St. John’s.
Ok, I just thought that replying "whatever" was dismissive of my post when I was just correcting comments about 8-10 disqualifying teams from the Dance. People said the same thing about 9-9 as recently as a week ago. People said we wouldn't get in at 10-8, etc.
.

Oh no, I agree with your analysis and am not disputing your math.
Just praying we finish no worse than 3-3 and get a decent seed with a chance for a 2nd game.
That was all I meant.
We are in agreement on the rest, going 8-10 and losing first round of the NCAA Tournament would be disappointing.
How many of those came from a major conference that has only 10 teams, though?
I don't really see why that's relevant, but some of them were Big 12 teams (Texas and Oklahoma). Despite their name, the Big 12 has 10 teams.

Arizona St (from the crappy Pac 12), Syracuse, and Alabama also made it last year at 8-10.

Anyways, I don't really want to focus on 8-10. My initial post only mentioned 8-10 because some were doubting whether 9-9 would get us in. It was my way of illustrating how 9-9 would easily get us in, since even 8-10 would be a possibility. I did not mean to shift the discussion to 8-10, but rather wanted to say we don't need to worry about whether 9-9 would be good enough.

Let's just win tonight so the expectations can remain at 9-9 (or better) and we never have to talk about 8-10 again.

Gotta release those bad Providence vibes, ‘99 and think good thoughts!
If we show up hungry, we’ll prevail.
Let’s go.

I could be wrong, but I believe mkras is using reverse psychology here.

Michael Stephens was scheduled to do this game tonight actually but thankfully the big east removed him.

He is doing unc and Florida state instead

Hope all the redmen.comers at MSG can celebrate loud & long tonight along with Marv & his family, Shamorie & the rest of the team.

Those of us watching on TV will be rooting like crazy for the guys to pull this one out. Let's do it Johnnies!

Okay Dink, I’ll go with a ‘reversal’ from last game for sure. Lol.

maybe I'll hide the odor with a couple squirts of my 1992 Drakkar Noir I used back then. I'll be irresistible to the 45+ year old guidettes :)
Wow, blast from the past. My dad worked in the cosmetics industry when I was a teen, and we had factory samples of that stuff in the house all the time. All my Elmont guido friends would come over and raid the stash.
Haaa ! That and my Toyota Corolla with super dark tinted windows and gold chain license plate were quite the combination. Monte would have been proud of me

I drove through the night from Florida to get home in time for the good st John's team. Please show up good team.

Wow, once again St. John's announces an hour before the game that Heron is out.

Hearing Heron is out prompts the question.......why do I continue to be a fan of this team?

We have to be considered a significant underdiog now .
