The key Wed night is Champy.

Here are some games weve lost vs tough Big East teams and Champys scoring in those games:
Hall - 9 points
Prov - 11 points
Nova - 9 points
Prov - 8 points
Nova - 12 points
Uconn - 13 points

Wed night Julian needs to give us 20 plus points.  If he does, we will win.  If he disappears again and gives us 12 or 13 points, we will lose,

Which Champy are we getting Wed night?

We'll get the good Champy, he's confidence is oozing right now.  During his slump he was hesitating on everything and his confidence was gone.  You can see from the last 2 games that's not the case anymore, he's looking for his shot again.

Also, I think the biggest thing now is even if he has an off night, say only gives you 12-15 points, with Wheeler's emergence and Posh seeming to be almost 100% again you have 2 other guys that can score and cover the slack.  I think this is the first time, all 3 of Posh, Wheeler, and Champ are all clicking and playing well at the same time.

Nothing definitive  on O’Connell yet but

Kaluma - 2/21/- With knee injury  is sidelined with , and he is expected to remain out of action until the early part of March.

Devin Davis 2/20/22 is questionable &  has sat out the last four games with an injury to an unlisted area, and it is unclear if he will be available

In same Omaha World Herald piece McDermott noted he wants this to be his last job and it appears CU will extend him.

”Creighton lost five starters from a Sweet 16 team. They rolled out a team of role players, freshmen and the star of Division II Northwest Missouri State. With two weeks left in the regular season, the Jays are 18-8, 10-5 in the Big East (tied for third) and in terrific shape to make the NCAA tournament.Business as usual? Not exactly.

This is McDermott’s best coaching job at Creighton — and probably at Iowa State, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and Wayne State.Call it Mac’s Masterpiece.Credit the players. Credit the coaching. Credit the culture.”

Prior to Creighton, 6 or 9 seasons had overall losing records at Northern Idaho including 4 straight at Iowa State.   Really hit his stride at Creighton with 7 dance tickets.    At 57 will likely get another chance to say he wants to end his career at Creighton, although now is the time to strike for an extension.

McDermott has distinguished himself as a excellent BE Coach .   And , seems like he had a total rebuild from a year ago .  The Jays are likely dancing again this year .  Maybe if we got Buffett to attend one of our Games at CA he would throw us some $$$$ .  Guys like him are  always looking for Tax Credits , Deductions , etc . But , give him a Seat back chair . And , $ 25 coupon for refreshments .

Sea of white perhaps, should be a nail biter

Looks awesome.  Carnesseca is going to be bananas tomorrow night and we will win the game.

I am more than curious what defensive strategy Anderson will employ this time around. SJU got crushed the first game time when three players shot 13 for 19 on three point attempts , most of which were open shots. One of the three players  I believe is out for tomorrow’s game which will make Creighton even more short handed than their usual small number of players used.
This gives Anderson a choice. Does he press and perhaps tire out Creighton but give them a number of open threes when the pressure doesn’t work or does he let up on the pressure , trying to prevent open threes.
There is no definite right or wrong strategy but Anderson must be ready to change his strategy depending on the flow of the game and the success of his defense.

I'm going to assume O'Connell plays. Frankly, can't see Creighton winning if he doesn't, they are just too thin. In the Marquette game where Kaluma was also out, their bench played a total of 12 minutes. They were able to get away with that in part by only getting called for 8 fouls.
Think we want to use the semi-press where we just make them work to get the ball over and then make sure to cover O'Connell & Hawkins in particular on three ball opportunities. On offense, hope we continue to emphasize cuts to the basket and take the ball up aggressively to get them in some foul trouble, especially Kalkbrenner. They've played a pretty heavy six man rotation in Big East play and with Kaluma out they really have a weak bench.
Let's go Johnnies!

my guess a little more crowded than last game. What was the last game 5k fans ? I'm going with 5300. Let's see what monte and eric go for on that over under number :)

No more time for moral victories.  Each remaining game is the season for us.
Play defense, sink free throws,  rebound, no more missing bunnies, good spacing, no stupid fouls, get them in foul trouble, play defense. Play defense, play defense.
