These guys don’t seem as scary as their record suggests. They have beaten up on the weak and haven’t beaten many of the top of the league. They are 6-7 vs Q1/Q2 and are 5-4 on the road.

I just hope our fan base refrains from using terms like “hayseeds” or “flyover state” or “country bumpkins” or “cousin lovers” during the game or in the days leading up to it.

I apologize for the silly stereotyping.

I'm just a knuckle-dragging mook from Queens with tomato sauce stains on his undershirt.

I am out of the predicting business especially with this team.  Everytime I think I have them figured out they flip me.

Just watching and rooting.  That's it.

But these have been arguably their two best played games back to back.

And they owe Creighton a beatdown after what happened last month in Omaha.

Oh Fordham, you've been around long enough to know.  The most typical St. John's path from here is to beat Creighton then lose to DePaul.  I hope not, but studies show......   /media/kunena/emoticons/tongue.png

Assuming they beat DePaul I think they need to win 2 of the 3 against Creighton,  X and Marquette.  Get to 10 league wins and probably still need a BET win before they can make a case to get in.

Win all 4 and really good shape.

The non conference is killing them.  Not much separating them and SHU but SHU has non conference wins over Michigan and Texas and only 1 non conference loss to Ohio St. 2 quality wins and no bad losses. SJU has no quality wins and a bad loss to Pitt.

My 114 buddies and I were literally just having this talk on our text chain. Agree with your idea on outlook

You guys should all go to Hollywood and write comedy for sitcoms. You're a lot more clever than anything coming out of there right now!

I think the hole is too deep to dig out of without an absolutely extraordinary finish. An optimistic but realistic forecast for the rest of our games would be: Win the next 3, lose @ Marquette. 6 seed in BET, beat GTown on Wed, Yukon on Thursday, lose to Nova on Friday.

That's the minimum of what would need to happen for us to enter the conversation and it still likely wouldn't be good enough.

Also, @ DePaul is no gimme. We won't be favored by more than 3-4 points if that much

I think we need to go 3-1 in the last four games and make to the finals of the Big East Conference Tournament to get a bid. That’s how weak our OOC schedule was.

Reminder: Do not get too high after wins, and do not get to low after losses.

I've got the first part down.

The second part is a long-running issue, for me.

My 2 main concerns:

1. Creighton beat us by 23 exactly one month ago. Champ, Posh, and Wheeler played the most minutes for us.
2. Creighton is on the bubble, unlike Xavier (easily in currently) or Butler (very far out). They'll be fired up to grab another Q1 win.

I still do think we'll win, but unlike prior to the Butler game I'm not very confident in that. Glad the team has made things interesting at least.

I would like to see us mix in zone D like we have the last 2 games.  Our guys seem to have more gas late in the game when we do that.

Not sure the pot smokers would agree with you after wins :)

They looked like kansas against us, and also toyed with us. If we keep them off the rim it will help us guard the three. The staff can take a lot of credit if we can shut these guys down.

Statistically, we have it all over Creighton, except for free throw shooting.  Creighton shoots at 72.9% to our 67.1%.

Creighton well coached offensively with a lot of screening. To me one key is can Posh give their talented freshman PG difficulty and get them out of sync? They are not dead eye three point shooting team they historically have been, but O’Connell as we saw last game w CU can get hot. Hawkins is also having nice season. Like our chances being hot and confident lately.

With a week to rest I am sure Posh will be in the best of possible health and is capable of giving Nembhard fits. If as you correctly pointed out that can occur perhaps we can have a group of defenders on O’Connell to prevent him from going off like last game. Of course Champ and Wheeler each having an outstanding offensive game would go a long way to helping us win this most important game of the season.

If we play and shoot keep the ball moving Locke we did against Butler ,we win. Can we have two  games like the Butler ,that’s the question
