We have to go in and beat these guys.  Butler is ranked dead last in scoring offense, field goal %, scoring margin, FT% and offensive rebounding.  Dead last in all those categories.  They are near the bottom of the conference in 3pt%, 3pt% defense, fg%defense.

Yes it's away and at Hinkle, but this is a game we have to win.  They aren't a good team by any stretch this season, and if we have post-season aspirations we need to hold serve here.

And in addition to the above stats Butler is turnover prone. Hopefully we can hold Thompson to the 10 points he scored at Caernesecca. Roberts and Moore shouldn't have any defensive problems with Nze and Golden. Got to be up in Bolden's face, can hit the three.

Since our initial road victory against Butler at Hinkle on January 25, 2014. We have lost six straight times at their place and have never played a close game with them. We have been beaten by a total of 123 points over those six games (see results below). With Past Performances like these there is absolutely no reason to be too cocky about playing Butler at their place. That said we handled them relatively easily at Carnesecca and we clearly have been the better team this year, especially recently.

SJU has some significant current streaks of futility against a number of Big East opponents, but it seems like this bunch has the wherewithall to end some of these negative streaks. I am hopeful that we can begin a new narrative against Butler at Hinkle and come away with another road victory. I am cautiously optimistic here but definitely not overconfident.

Some very weird things are happening. Line has moved heavily in the other direction and is now SJU +3 and some places have +3.5

makes no sense

Yep, I like that though, keep disrespecting the redmen, and have them play with a chip on their shoulder.

Butler currently -2.5.
We better not get Henry Hilled by the refs./media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png

Will win one for Lav since he is doing the color commentary.

"St. John's will provide their typical pressure defense, ball hawk you all over the floor, IF YOU WILL."

"Posh Alexander, has that killer instinct, a quiet assasin, IF YOU WILL."

"Mike Anderson will coach like a surgeon, a tactician with a scapel, IF YOU WILL."

That would be a first, we are 0-3 with Lavin doing color for our games.
Maybe that's why we had a 4-5 point swing in Vegas. /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png

Some strange line movements in St. John's-Butler. Started #sjubb by 1.5. Moved to Butler by 3.5. Back to Butler by one now.

Seems like a logical line for this game would be Johnnies by 1 1/2 or 2. Somewhat surprising to see Butler favored. Will be interesting to see where it winds up.

Butler has been a traditionally strong home team for as long as I can remember. The spread really shouldn’t be that surprising.

I'm really wondering why Vegas is favoring Butler tonight. If everyone is healthy, the Johnnies should run them off the floor even in Hinkle.

Usually I'm a mush but I'm riding high from my first time ever actually rooting for Tom Brady and my wallet time to go visit my Italian Butcher and put some cheese on us tonight

I know everyone is extremely positive right now and most are expecting to win, but keep in mind we're underdogs again for the FOURTH game in a row. If we lose tonight we'd still have a clear (but tougher) path to the Tournament.
