We are 0-2 with fans in attendance this season. (Creighton, Xavier).
Time to right this wrong as well.

I hear ya, but Butler ain't no Creighton or Xavier.

We have to go in and beat these guys.  Butler is ranked dead last in scoring offense, field goal %, scoring margin, FT% and offensive rebounding.  Dead last in all those categories.  They are near the bottom of the conference in 3pt%, 3pt% defense, fg%defense.

Yes it's away and at Hinkle, but this is a game we have to win.  They aren't a good team by any stretch this season, and if we have post-season aspirations we need to hold serve here.

I guess Creighton must have thought that as well, before they went on to lose @Butler 3 weeks ago.
Need to stay humble and take no one lightly.

I don't think we will take them lightly at all,  but we have to do what we do and have been doing.  Keep intensity at both ends.  Creighton hot and cold so we can't compare ourselves. Creighton doesn't shoot nor score well, so we need to compound that with our defense.

As a long time SJU fan, I never take anyone lightly, nor do I think this team does.  All things being equal, this year I'd  much rather face Butler in Hinkle than the Jays in Omaha

Point being game at Butler should not be taken lightly despite their struggles this year. I say this more to the fan base as CMA clearly has players staying humble.

Another interesting stat is that Butler is 0-9 in games where opponent scores over 65 points.  Need to pressure and get our transition buckets.

It's a late game Tuesday. The team faces a long trip back to NY later that night. I'm glad the team won't play again until the 16th against Xavier.

Butler is another win the team needs for a tournament invite. They should be ok if the players keep focused and ignore fan expectations. St John's defense continues improving every week. I hope Coach Anderson has them primed and ready to play Butler.

I think this is a winnable game for St John's.

Play the game, take any opponent seriously & forget diagnostics. Confident Mike will keep players in right frame of mind. Butler will be scrappy, but like our chances

Providence despite the record to me is better than Butler by a lot, and we handled them so I am hoping we do the same on the road at Hinkle.

The trick is earning the wins where we can.  Butler is more winnable than some others.  Still nice to be in a position to continue our season.

One coaching mantra that I learned early and never forgot - an opponent is only as good or bad as they play on the day you play them. I believe this team and coaching staff gets that, I wasn't crazy about the D against Providence but this team is proving they have multiple tools in the toolbox, including an awful lot of poise and sticktoidiveness when things are seemingly going south. They will not underestimate Butler, if they lose that will not be the reason IMO.

Opening line: SJU a 1.5 point road favorite tomorrow against Butler.

While there are many factors that go into each game I believe the main key to all our games will be the energy that Posh brings to the game. If he plays with his hair on fire it seems that the rest of the team follows suit.
