Mike Anderson: ‘That’s a floater that LJ makes.

What BS, he knows LJ makes that floater? He's acting like LJ's floater is automatic. It isn't, how many times LJ missed that?

Stop
Sorry, but knowing you're going to lose, despite being up by 5 with 90 seconds left, is indication of a problem. I wasen't just being pessimistic. I knew we were going to lose, in the same vain that I know it's going to be dark out at midnight. That's not just a personel issue (although that's part of it), it's a mentality and/or late game coaching, and it has to change. 1-6 in game decided by 5 points or less, this year, 0-5 in Big East games. That's a problem.
absolutely ridiculous to say that “bringing the same crew back will just breed more losing”.

A lot of our players are young guys in their first year of playing high level D1 basketball. Roberts, Greg, and Earlington were used sparingly last year. Dunn comes from Cleveland st. Champ is a true frosh.

These guys are going to take their lumps and learn from it and get better. To say you don’t want them and basically call them losers who will never be winners is some reallll bullshit.

Don’t come around celebrating when this same core is a part of some great winning seasons in the near future...
Dunn and Champ are keepers, no question. I've been later to the party on Earlington, then most on here, but he's proving his worth. I just can't get on the Williams or Roberts bandwagons. The more I watch them, the more I begin to see why Mullin didn't play them last year, and I don't have confidence in Williams staying healthy. I'm also starting to see what the Arkansas people who wanted Anderson gone saw in him. He's the best we could have reasonably gotten, but the ceiling is low, IMO.

He's simply backing his player. I admire him for doing so. But it was a terrible shot.

CMA is supporting his player publicly. I have no problem with that as long as he’s telling that he has to make better decisions privately.

Entertaining game, and a lot of fun for 39 minutes. Rinse and repeat.

It comes down to heron and lJ were never that good ,it was just that at the time we thought that because we did not have that much skill (shooting)
It’s my opinion that neither would star on most BE teams
Hate to say it by I think we do not win another game At the beginning of the season I predicted 4 Wins. Sad ,coach better transfer a few and better have not good but a great recruiting yr to do anything

What in particular have you seen from Earlington that makes you see why Mullin didn’t play him last year? Kid has been a revelation.

I meant Roberts. Typed Earlington's name by mistake. Editing it now.
Figueroa was 2-17 , let him go to Kazakhstan and play next year!!!!
And down one with 10.4 seconds left he takes a difficult shot. What we needed was a drive to the basket to hopefully pick up a foul.
We missed too many foul shots.
Kudos to Rutherford, Dunn and Earlington for excellent performances.
Unfortunately we allowed Marshall to go wild before we switched back to a match up zone.
An exciting game and effort by the Johnnies..

The last 5 minutes of this game had nothing to do with a talent disparity. Awful shot selection (primarily by 1 guy) and poor execution when they got the ball back with a chance to win.
Obviously a pet peeve of mine but we have no talent disparity. Defense and hustle are talents, we put up 70+ “talentless” points in 37 minutes and then a lack of talent takes over? I don’t buy it. Our “best player” shoots horrendously but then decides he is going to win the game on his own? We have talent, we just don’t know how to win.
Of course we have talent. This is Big East basketball. Our guys hustle and work hard nearly every play. But if defense and hustle is part of talent, then so is basketball IQ. So if trusting your teammates. So is rising to the moment. None of these were on display with the game on the line. That we need an upgrade in talent is true beyond a single doubt. Every game, taller, longer and more athletic players are getting rebounds right over the backs of our guys without fouling, purely by using their superior size and athleticism.

There are players on the way that should fit perfectly with CMA's style. But right now, there isn't enough liquor in my cabinet to make me feel any better.

I believe in all three big east wins SJU had a double digit lead with five minutes to go. Many other games they had smaller leads with five minutes to go and blew them all. Tonight they had seventy points with more than five minutes to go and ended up with seventy four.
They cannot make a shot in crunch time. In just about all of their non conference wins they had comfortable leads with five to go. Hopefully Cole next year will turn out to be a clutch shooter.
What was surprising tonight was SJU got a terrible game from LJ, no points from Roberts and Caraher in thirty minutes , shoot thirty five per cent from the floor and take a good team down to the wire. What a difference a couple of shooters could have made to this season. The

It is really obvious that Roberts cannot be our starting center next year. Coach has to secure a good big man from the transfer list.

Stay within 10 with 5 minutes left, and the "Anderson factor" apparently kicks in. Maybe he'll have more success with teams made up of his guys (I hope so, and think he will), but I have not liked what I've seen late in close games. In fact, a lot of the problems Arkansas people had with him, have come to the forefront (can't adjust, no halfcourt offense, among others). The tough part is, that I don't think we could have done any better, in terms of a coach we could have picked (Pitino was not a reasonable option, IMO). That's scary, because the ceiling is very low under Anderson, IMO, although the floor is pretty high (this year is probably the floor).
Just a brutal loss. But we are headed in the right direction under coach anderson. Just a little more patience fellas. Our time is coming.
Have to give props to your guy Duke. He really has developed into a really nice player.

Champaignie went charles smith on us at one point. Doh!!

He played well tonight though. But that sequence of missed layups was brutal.

So when does the great cma start Earlington? Him and Rutherford were our best players tonight
Exciting game, right to the end. I was on the edge of my seat, cheering, and yelling encouragement most of the game.

Erratic shooting during the final 10 minutes cost the Johnnies again.

Heartbreaking after such an effort against a more talented team. I think Rutherford & Champagnie played their best ball this season?
It wasn’t erratic shooting that cost us. It was LJ. 2 of 17 says it with most well beyond the arc. Pulls up on fast break. He killed us tonight..I said this game was winnable and it was.X didn’t want to handle the ball late in game. We should have been up double digits.
This one still hurts even 20 minutes later.

How Figueroa can look any of his teammates in the face after that game, I don’t know. You’re supposed to be a leader of this team and instead of deferring to the 3 or 4 guys who lead them to that point, he just starts selfishly chucking the ball from all spots of the court. It’s really inexcusable and it’s shocking. He’s regressed big time this season.
100% correct. With 1 minute and 29 seconds remaining he takes a bomb from God's country, especially since he was shooting 2 for 15 at that time.. We needed to penetrate and pick up a foul,
