(POST-GAME) Seton Hall (MSG), Sat. Feb. 23, 8p, FS-1 / Sirius XM

Best game overall for Keita.
Boy can Williams sky. Not sure yet if he has any touch shooting wise but certainly can slash to the basket.
Still confused as to why guys like Earlington and Roberts didn't get to perform earlier in season.
Enough already with our technical fouls. As the Hall climbed closer to us at the end I couldn't help feeling that Trimble's tech was going to bite us in the a...
Thought Figueroa had a mediocre game, bailed out however by Ponds and Clark.
Don't like hearing Heron's knee injury is chronic.
We take out Xavier on Thursday.

I’m this era, Williams is a breath of fresh air. Seems like a great kid who is always engaged. He is athletic enough to defend good players right now. Understands his role. Still raw offensively but when he improves his ball handling and outside shot he is going to be a helluva player. Still passive on O which is understandable given his role and that he is still developing that area. But gonna be a good one for us.

I'm very happy with the win just like everyone else. However not to be Debbie downer, but our horrendous rebounding trend continues. We allowed 17 offensive rebounds and were outrebounded overall 41-27. It's a bad sign for our upcoming 3 games....
I thought we only gave up 9, and got 8. Must recheck the box score.
The rebounding on the SHU end was Stj-20, SH-17. That is brutal and you will win 1 of 100 games with those stats.

The response was to turn them over 22 times, net +9 in the TO category. That and coming out 4-7 from 3 before colling off made up or the rebound differential. But agree with the OP, that's gotta stop on the defensive end of the floor.

It looks like there's an error in the box score. The rebound totals for SH should be 9 and 23 OREB/DREB instead of 17 and 24.
Well that makes me feel a lot better.
A lot of our blocks went out of bounds. Those go down as team rebounds for Seton Hall, which ESPN does not include in the boxscore, but adds in the totals.

I must admit I watched the game pretty much on fast forward knowing the result after a few beers and sausages but I didn't see the game the way the ESPN box score laid it out and was surprised. Glead to know it's wrong from a performance standpoint.

I took notice at Williams confidence level. I think it has increased. The way he was playing defense and how he tried to attack the basket by going for that big dunk that he missed (I wish he made it), showed a glimpse of how good he can be if he keeps working at it.

What a fabulous and satisfying team win. Our bench came alive and we beat the Hall without Mustapha.
This game proved a couple things: 1) We’re a much better team than SH and a much better team when we can rely on a deeper bench.
That might be the most important takeaway from y’days victory.
If our bench can sustain that level of contribution the rest of the way, watch out for St. John’s.
Keita really impressed me y’day. He played very well and was very mobile. Got to think we sold the guy short, he has healed from his knee injury and perhaps the best is yet to come.
GW Jr. oozes with athleticism and grit, and Earlington is proving he belongs in the Big East and will be a solid contributor in the future.
And lastly, it was very satisfying to beat the Hall—finally!
But, I came away from the game with a deep respect for the grit of their players and how well coached they are.
Powell is a warrior as is Ponds.
Great game!
Thank you St. John’s!

It was great seeing everyone. Atleast now my girlfriend knows that it’s men on this site. Lol

Btw, she loves Marvin, there was a video about his life. Does anyone have it handy?

Also, let’s plan a get together in Saratoga this summer.
Saratoga you say. I'm in. Just avoid the weekend. Too crowded.
If we really want to avoid a crowd, we can all meet at Belmont on any afternoon outside of June 8th.

It was very nice meeting Mike, Panther and Knight. This has been the best season in terms of MSG crowds and section 114 gatherings. Also, thanks to NYC Redmen and Weatherman for organizing the pre-game dinner at O'Reilly's to talk Johnny basketball with the an all time great fan and poster - Paultzman.

Xavier just spanked Villanova! We are going to need the same Keita , Earlington, Williams and Roberts to show up on Thursday. That game will be a war. They are much more physical than Seton Hall.

Seton Hall’s forum is a great read right now. Willard, Powell, McKnight, Mamu all getting ripped by their fans.

They are really in shambles over there. But I’m not gonna mock them, because I’m sure this site is a “great read” for opposing fans after every loss.

After some of the wins too, I'm sure. A prime example of that was after the Butler game, when many on here were complaining about our performance in that one, despite the critical victory.
Game replay starting right now on MSG Network.
Watching it now. Not sure who the play by play guy is but he just referred to this game as “ The battle of the boroughs.” In what freaking borough is Seton Hall located? Idiot.

Love it. Great chemistry
Will be great to see these guys develop and enter bigger and bigger roles for this team. There was a moment during the game last night, 1st half, where Roberts inbounded it to Greg who brought the ball up, and I told my friends "there's the future right there"
Great team effort but the story is Ponds snapping out of his slump and coming up with big basket after big basket to stop their momentum.

Keita giving us 6 points and 4 rebounds was huge. We’re not asking much here...if he can continue that production and be a mediocre rim protector we can really make some noise.
His ceiling is still TBD but he is still rounding into shape, is definitely improving albeit marginally and appears to be a good teammate. Doesn’t seem to sulk when PT is limited.

I'm just happy Mullin got his 20th win. It was an important number for this season. Need 2 more to firm up NCAA tournament bid.
