Roberts was fine today. No impact with his limited playing time.
What is this obsession some have with roberts? He misses bunnies, leaves him man to whiff on blocks. Just because he is bouncy doesn't mean anything. Our best line up was a really small line up tonight.
Very strange. Why start Roberts if you’re only going to play him two minutes. He is better than Toro

I'd say we should fire the guy who thought it was a good idea to stop recruiting Sandro, but I guess we already did that.

Well, we chucked up a lot of 3s. Not enough driving to the paint to get fouled. Seton Hall has no shortage of trees who can play. No way we drive successfully. We looked like boys against men much of the time.

You can also drive and dish.

Cole is the second leading scorer i believe, He is crafty getting his shot off. Not good is a stretch.

Don't pay him any attention.

Start him to see what he does against the seven footer. 17 seconds in he gets a foul, then Jumps for a block Mamu doesnt shoot passes it to to the big man who Roberts left open. Next play mamu lays it up against him. The first 6 points for the Hall were by guys Roberts was guarding. I would love to see what his plus minus was. Where can i find that

Looks like Vegas was right after all

If they are going to make that leap in the near future they need more difference makers. Not enough of them.

It seemed like Seton Hall was toying with our guys. Every time we cut it to 3, they took it right back to 7 or 9. We did look like boys to their men, probably in part because their starting 5 and primary sub consists of 3 seniors and 3 juniors. Nearly half of St. John's minutes went to players with zero division 1 experience.

Here's the problem Paultz; Cole can be a very good offensive weapon in a good half court offense. We are not a good half court offensive team. Hopefully we will improve as the season progresses.

Isn't it funny how close the original line was at 9.5? Then it was adjusted based on where the money was going. As we know, Vegas didn't adjust the line down to 5 because they decided that Seton Hall was only 5 points better then St. john's. They set it at 9.5, which is where they thought it should be, and then let the market adjust the line.

The bottom line is we played the game at their pace and couldn’t force enough turnovers to get enough easy buckets. We need to play a game in the 80’s that’s our pace. We need Niywe also. If we are going to gamble on defense then we need a rim protector for when the gamble doesn’t pay off. If we can’t force our pace then this will be the result unless we start shooting the ball better. Posh has to start sticking that jumper from the top of the key to keep the defense honest and open up driving lanes for him and others. It also allows for the drive and dish so when we are taking threes they’re open threes and not contested.

If you’re watching Villanova vs Georgetown, how are going to defend this 7 footer Wahab on Georgetown? Understanding that this was the first Big East game for half of our team, it’s obvious that this team is still a year away from being a real threat in this conference. Next season we will have virtually everyone back . Everyone will know the system , have a year of Big East experience and they can hit the ground running.

Can’t argue with that Mark, so much dependence on generating offense off pressure.

Perhaps I’m too hard on him. But he’s had by far his three best games against very weak completion. He’s been pretty lousy in the others. Doesn’t strike me as athletic or a good enough ball handler to be a consistent offensive contributor. Seems to be a liability on defense. Seems to be a streak shooter. I think he’d be best utilized curling off screens. Can make the occasional drive but I’d prefer not to see him put the ball on the floor.

Nothing like a reality check to start the weekend.

I agree that Cole needs to look for his shot more.

Tonight was another example of why we need more size. We couldn't handle their big men down low (could barely box them out) and we have absolutely zero going on in the paint on offense. If we did, Cole would probably get three more open looks a game.

If I am charge, for the next 100 days, we only recruit kids 6'9", 235lbs and up. Enough with the lack of size!

At the end of just about every SJU game you come away with the impression they are a poor shooting team.If my math is correct they are a pretty good shooting team from two point range, over 53 per cent but a lousy three point shooting team , just below 30 per cent.
The worst stat is that the three point attempts are 30 per cent of the field goal attempts. It is not uncommon for a SJU player, just about all of them , to throw up a three pointer after working the ball around less than ten seconds. Let’s pass a SJU rule that no one takes a three unless the ball has been passed around for at least 25 seconds. I was going to suggest coach outlaws all three point attempts but that doesn’t seem feasible but if we have another 4 for 21 game I would love to try it, We will struggle to win more than a couple of big east games shooting 4 for 21.
