So disappointed.  Thought we could get this game.  I was one of those expecting more with posh and champ.  But if they don't play as expected we really have little chance.  Too bad because it could have been a fun year.

Why take out a t a hot Posh in the second half after a timeout when he running the offense and was hot and hit a couple of pull up jumpers.  That's not reading the room or the situation

Why do we keep asking Wusu to in bound the ball.  His decision making when doing so  is questionable at best during key moments. (I was so happy they did sit him down in the second half after back to back bone headed turnovers).

Those were the worst 6.2 seconds I've ever seen and my blood pressure went through the roof at the end of the first half.  Dylan and Posh, what were you thinking?  Or maybe you weren't.  That comes down to:
  1. Lack of situation awareness on the part of the players
  2. Lack of instruction by the coach.  The referees had a discussion amongst themselves, went to the video monitor to confirm if it was a flagrant foul and then explained it to the arena announcer and the broadcasters, during which time both teams were huddling up.  What instructions were given?  How about "Hey we have a chance here let's get some points from the free throw line and run a play and if you can't inbound it, call a timeout."
  3. Never foul someone taking a shot trying near the sideline and midcourt to beat the buzzer.

Why was Niywe on the court when you needed offense at that time?  You were coming out of a time out.  Who didn't see a turnover in some form or another coming with that non-move?

So frustrating.

This loss hurt not going to lie but the game was entertaining as hell. I know most think were done but 5th place is still very much in play. Xavier and Creighton are only 5-4, teams 5-9 are all still in the picture. Only teams that are out of it are Gtown and DePaul at 1-17 combined. The team isn’t giving up on CMA they continue to play hard. Besides Creighton these are competitive games being played win or lose. They haven’t figured out how to execute at the end of these close games yet, Julian struggling is a big part of that. I expect him to break out soon only a matter of time. Posh is a beast idc what anyone says. Wheeler and Mathis have stepped up and become consistent contributors. Can’t overlook G’town need to use that game to get everybody in rhythm together. Anything can happen win the next two and we’re 5-6 going home. Still need to steal one against the top 4 which is possible but need Champ in top form. Some Pinzon wouldn’t hurt at some point I’ve kind of given up on Smith and Coburn at this point.

If I am coach this morning the only thing I would have the kids practice is free throws until they beg for mercy.  I can't recall seeing any SJU team as bad as this one on free throws.

Yes but to his credit Wusu is not scared and takes the lead; he does not seem to be affected by pressure and wants the ball.  I would like to see more of this character trait from Champ who seems timid and waits for the game to come to him rather than make plays happen.

50 yo guys at the Y all have full Nick Werkman repertoires, every twist, off hand, fadeaway, and drag shot imaginable.  Wusu is a straight line player and it is hurting his effectiveness.  If he can learn a variety of junk moves, his value would go way up.

Just about every team we play seems to have at least one guy who is a fairly dependable outside shooter. We don't have one.

Once again, our opponent made more free throws than we even attempted. Our defense is fun to watch but the aggressive nature of CMA's system lends itself to more frequent fouling.

Champ remains in a deep funk. We can't win when a 20 point per game guy doesn't reach double figures.

We need a free throw shooting coach. We are the worst FT shooting team in the Big East.

Despite it all, we almost beat Providence, who IMO, didn't look like an 18-2 team. Another loss that could/should have been a win.

Keep the faith, guys!!!
