10 teams last year and wow we went 10-9 in a down year in the BE and lost first round of BET in a covid year with no fans and we all know we have one of the worst home court advantages in the league so no fans hurt our competition more than it hurt us. OK not every year but certainly most years.

The point is I was talking about Wusu and he only played last year and for nowhere near a bottom of the league team. I don't think there is a coach in the Big East who wouldn't want to have Wusu on their team.
Agree completely NC. Wusu is a coach's player and the kind of kid every coach would love to have. Also the kind of kid other kids love to play with, and fans love to watch and root for. We are very lucky to have him. My point is that he would have probably had a slightly lesser role on a better Big East team both last year and this year. Or maybe he's a starter this year on a better team with 4 other high level players.
So Monte says essentially the same thing I said and he gets a thank you while you argue with me. LOL Wish they had the middle finger emoji on here. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png/media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png/media/kunena/emoticons/cheerful.png (just so there's no misunderstanding I'm joking around). Guess I'm already over our bitter defeat.
I just clarified your incoherent post /media/kunena/emoticons/cheerful.png

Think it’s time  to look at coach, staff and their ability to to evaluate talent

I don’t think the problem is evaluating talent, but recruiting talent.

The only good thing about this game is that I didn't get to see it. Knowing that I was going to play golf today, I set up my DVR to tape the game on FS1. When I came home, I turned on the game only to see a soccer match on FS1 with a message at the bottom of the screen that said that the St John's game had been moved to FS2.

I was really pissed off when I found out that I couldn't see the game but felt very differently when I found out that we lost and how poorly we played. My cardiologist is very thankful that I didn't see the game because my blood pressure would have gone through the roof.

If you didn't erase the recording FS1 picked the game up in the first half so hopefully you have your cardiologist on speed dial.

Thankfully, I did erase the recording not knowing that they picked up the game in progress. At my age, it probably was a blessing that I missed it!!

watched the first half, also played golf. I made the mistake of looking at the final score. I played awful after seeing the score.

If you didn't bend any of your clubs or throw any of them into the water consider yourself ahead of the game. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

the problem is us being in bad shape with him. We have 2 special players and nothing else. we have guys playing who seem to have never heard the word box out. they cant stay between their man and the basket if they playing st. peters or njit. we foul guys because they cant guard. Coach ok covering things up but we should never be in that kindof shape. We lost most of last years team and could not come close to bring in players who could replace them. Is this the time you extend 4 years. I like coach but why did he lose his team. Did he want all the guys he did not recruit gone? This was one of the gfew years I had expections. Seeing this teams play was alarming. These guys have been around and they cant play a lick. I hope we never see SJU bring in a group of guys who just dont belong playing at this level. Now i am going to root like hell for mike to be great coach hemust be toclean up this mess. GO TEAM.

This team, save Posh, rarely looks like they have a “team plan.”  Lot’s of individual ball handling.

Monte, the problem is it’s not hard behind an experience coach and bring in 2 and 3* players as coach has done. It we needed a coach that evaluates a 2 or;3* and turns into a high 4 or 5 * we have some talent but a player like Soriano ,wheeler are not going to move us up in confr
now I do think have a player in storr who is a leg 4 and could with coach and staff eventually play like a 5 and will be a big boost to our offense next yr

It seems like always waiting until next yr can’t wait

Coburn hits a 3 than comes out and never gets back in.  I know he’s struggled but come on. 3 minutes?   If he found his stroke he can light it up.

Coach thought It was a 2 so he pulled him out :)

The team played with fire all non con season, and finally got burnt. Between Smith and Mathis, you have 8 years of college division 1 ball, yet both make awful decisions all to frequently. I don't think Mathis takes enough heat. Yes,he can finish, and played some good man last week, but he just makes a lot of terrible decisions and often at the worst time.  Within the last 2 minutes, it was Mathis, Dylan then smith fouling an 80% free throw shooter 20 or 30 feet from the basket. Six easy points. These mistakes go on game after game.

While this was an embarrassing game, team was going nowhere anyway. Not based on their play so far. Without Champ, a loss was surprising but not a shock. A shock would have been having a good season when everything so far indicated otherwise. it is disappointing that the replacements for GWill, Earl, Dunn and Moore have given way less than expected. Maybe this loss will wake some of the players up. Maybe that still won't be enough.

. . . Making Plays. His adopted team and his favorite team both lost today./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Mathis and Smith were a combined 3 for 16 shooting. Coburn hits his only shot. Ya think coach, you might give him a few more shots before you put his ass on ice? All the other shortcomings have been addresses here, but this one I just didn't get. I fully expect that any day Coburn will announce that he is leaving the team to fully pursue his studies. Why would he put up with this?

anytime you have wholesale changes it is alarming and should have been a Red flag meanwhile Zach of the Post was lauding these guys and gave false expectations and then downgraded the guys who left because they didn’t go to high majors SMH

If he split time with Smith, at least he'd feel like he was getting some co-burn. /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Obviously a very bad loss with significant dance implications.  I will share two perspectives........"The Ugly Truth" and "Rose Colored Glasses"

Th Ugly Truth
  • During the offseason, we lost more talent than we brought in.
  • This loss means we have to win double-digit conference games with more than one upset win on the road
  • If we don't win this year, recruiting gets even harder
  • We had more rebounds, more assists, more blocked shots, more steals, and less turnovers than our opponent and we STILL lost.  That's almost impossible.  But, we found a way by committing enough bonehead fouls and shooting just 50% from the free throw line.
Rose Colored Glasses
  • While not at all sufficient, Soriano and Wheeler are trending in the right direction
  • Today's loss came without our best player and that will be considered by the dance committee.
  • Who knows, maybe Pitt has a decent season and ultimately minimizes the damage of this loss.
  • We have Posh Alexander and Julian Champagnie

Add in Wheeler, and 3 touted transfers go 4 for 22.  against a mediocre team. At MSG. I have been thinking the same about Coburn. Why put so much time in practice to be a cheerleader.
