Anderson wasn't the one committing fouls 50 feet away from the basket. Anderson isn't the one that makes the same type of turnovers game after game. Anderson isn't the one that has started games with 0 to no intensity or excitement, which unfortunately, has been a common theme this season.kranmars post=447376 said:Another post where you only blame the players and let Anderson off the hook.stormin normin post=447367 said:Players need to take a good, long look in the mirror and decide what they want to get out of this team and this season.
The coach is a bigger problem than the players.
And when the game is on the line, and you need one defensive stop to get to OT, and you can't do it. Yea, that is on the players.
So yea, while Anderson has his flaws, this absolutely goes more on the players than in does on coaching
40 minutes of hell couldn't even give us 8 seconds of purgatory.Mario post=447403 said:Learned basic basketball at 10 years old. With 8 seconds on the clock or on any fast break STOP THE BALL! Don't let him dribble unimpeded the whole length of the court! Took the shot with 1 second on the clock. If you take him out of his stride this game goes to overtime.

Last play was horrible but that’s not what lost the game. Much like this one game is not what lost the season. If we took it to overtime and won, the season would still be lost.
It still is.Mug Costanza post=447418 said:Pitt is a bad bad team. Even without Julian this should have been a comfortable win. This is our third coach in a row that has had decent talent but couldn't get the most out of them due to allowing absolutely terrible shot selection and no coherent offensive structure. If teams stop us from making the game a track meet we're in big trouble.
We now enter Big East play with zero good wins and one terrible loss. Every other team in the conference aside from maybe Georgetown seems to be moving in a positive direction while we're stagnant. Had Anderson put together a tough non-conference schedule then his never losing season streak would have been in major jeopardy.
Mike you may want to save that for after Thursday's gamemjmaherjr post=447416 said:Merry fucking Christmas
Monte I just got a call from New York State Contact Tracers. Anyone who was at this game is now under self quarantine for the horrible basketball we just sawMonte post=447424 said:Mike you may want to save that for after Thursday's gamemjmaherjr post=447416 said:Merry fucking Christmas

You can blame the players for that, but as a coach…it’s your damn job to see a mismatch and EXPLOIT it. That’s your job. Tell your guards to get him the ball.
That’s the game there. Talk about Champ. Talk about missed free throws. Talk about not doing a man/man press at the end (also on coach). Talk about not calling a play in a half court offense most of the game (also on coach).
If we go through Soriano, this is a double-digit lead and builds his confidence moving forward. Instead you just sit there and let them do isos and weaves 20-something feet from the basket. Unbelievable.
I don’t see it. Soriano had one of his better games today but he’s a below average Big East interior player. Aside from being slow and unatjeletic, he has essentially one post move
Yes but now you will only get 10 cents on the dollar.mjmaherjr post=447438 said:Is the bookstore open this week ? I gotta return the St. John’s stuff I got my newborn nephews for Christmas. They should make their own bad choices in sports life without my influence
They weren’t playing a BE team. They were playing a 3-7 team. He was playing the best I’ve see him play. Was getting the ball in the post no problem (when they bothered with that kind of stuff) and was feeling it defensively as well. The coach needs to recognize a weakness and exploit it. I don’t know how “you didn’t see it,” it was plain as day to me.Boo Harvey post=447436 said:guinness77 post=447429 said:Again, I touched on it before, and said it in the game thread.
