(POST GAME) (H of F) Vermont, Sat. Nov. 16, 4p, FS-2, 570 WMCA

This competition doesn't hurt. Vermont's defense prevented Heron from taking three pointers.shooting 1 for 2. Still confused with Williams lack of offense and Caraher's lack of playing time. What am I missing? Robert and Champagnie continue to impress, only going to get better.Heron continues his drives through the middle, only to get blocked or lose the ball. Happened last year as well.

I remember posting during our hectic coaching search about John Becker (Vermont HC). I'm surprised he has not garnered high major interest. He's only 51 and It'd be intriguing to see what he could with higher level recruits.

They should have hired Pitino
But what upsets me the most is that UConn will be in the big east next yr and Hurley is going to get the recruits because this program has gone nowhere since the split
Pitino with Matt Doherty as his Assoc HC
Think Dee might prefer to have those roles reversed.
Call me crazy but Vermont didn't impress me. I guess turning it into a dogfight is what they want and have done all year so far. They don't shoot well. Granted Lamb was mehhhh in the 1st half but sensational in the 2nd half. Hey I'm happy they are receiving votes and I hope they do well the rest of the year but I can't see how that will sustain all year.
Wasn’t impressed either. Good mid-major that we beat by 10 if either our stars plays OK

Another ugly slugfest.

That's how both teams want it. More times than not they can both influence their game on teams.

49-48 Vermont with 5 minutes left - Lamb with 30 points, 7-11 from three. Giving pretty good account of themselves.

Playing out not much differently than our game. Puts it a bit into perspective.

More than pretty good. They’re a good solid team and Lamb far better than anybody on our team. He will play in the league.

Final Virginia 61 Vermont 55. A six point game that was competitive throughout. Key 9-0 run by UVA from the 5:25 mark to the 1:55 mark with 4 Vermont turnovers during that decisive run.

For those who were bashing Vermont as mediocre I think you have underestimated them. They are a very good team. If we get by ASU on Saturday we will get a crack at UVA on a neutral court on Sunday. That will be a really big test for us but we are a work in progress regardless. Personally I will try and be patient and wait for the end of the year before giving a fuller assessment of what we are in year one of the Coach Anderson regime

I know they're damn good 27-7 last year
But when 2 scores 43 and the rest 12.

Are they really that good or is it one dominating player, and the rest role players.
With that dominating player are they still really good or just avg?

But we do know with him that they are really good

I know I'm going to get hammered now.

After the VA/Ver game tonight we can better put our lose in perspective. Tonight we saw mirror images where teams are very focused on defense first (the low number of combined offensive rebounds-12 and 58 missed shots). I felt it would be a game in the 50's and it almost was. Also VA had 11FT's while we had 35, a very passive team.

I personally thought it was a snooze fest, as exciting as watching paint dry. I would rather watch an up-tempo team, albeit "500 team" then be put in a coma. Bennett Ball ain't for me.

If we can beat AZ St., I feel like if we score 62+ vs uva we'll win the hof tourny. UVA has no offense, or very little options.

Even if it’s just Lamb, they nearly beat UVA. UVA is arguably the best defensive team in the country consistently. I think they held Syracuse to less points than Lamb scored alone...

Our loss wasn’t a bad loss and that seems obvious because this team almost beat UVA and they let him score over 30 points. How could we not stop him? UVA couldn't either....

Bingo, you wonder why teams don't double him all game, take him out and see what vermont has then.

37 for vermont in the 2nd half lamb scored 25 smith got 6 or 8. That's atleast 31 of the 37

I don't know if they let him score 30 points. His three pointers were not open ones and most well behind the 3 point line. Diakite played him tight and looked shocked after every made shot. Believe me he had to work for his shot against the Cavaliers swarming defense.
