(POST-GAME) @Georgetown (CAP ONE), Sat. Jan. 5, 1p, CBS / 570AM
The Georgetown fans were wildly irritating today and shutting them up was awesome.

Shamorie Ponds’ father Shawn was sitting right near me, and some Georgetown fans started heckling him in the second half. Yelling at him over and over until Ponds dad told them to mind their damn business. Then they start laughing like a bunch of assholes.

When the final buzzer sounded I went right over and shook his hand immediately, he seemed so happy. It was a great feeling. The Georgetown fans were silent on the walk out, what an amazing day
Jack, that was a stand up thing you did. Proud of you.

Back in the day a large section of us sat right below Chris Mullins parents at CA and often chatted with them. At Chris' SJU HOF induction , my wife and I chatted with Chris and told him that. He smiled warmly at the recollection and grinning said of his parents,"Oh yea? One quiet one, one loud one." Then he introduced my wife and i to his family at his table as if we were old friends, a really gracious thing to do.

Jack, not only are you a great fan, but you were representing st. John's to Ponds dad, and I'm certain you did it well. Thank you.
What a stressful exciting win. That ponds steal leading to ally ooop better be top play on espn top 10
Not only was that play not number 1 on sport center top 10, it wasn’t even in their top 10 AT ALL!!!! Are you kidding me??? Talk about bias against the big east still Espn. Wow.

It’s all been said. Excellent win. We have the toughness, maturity, and skill that will carry us a long way. Love that Ponds is back in attack mode from the jump. Georgetown will be super tough in the coming years as Maclung and Akinjo get better. Go St. John’s!!!

This is an excellent point. He was forced to play at a fast pace and had to move plenty on defense. Believe the announcers even mentioned it late in the game as he did not make it to half court on a possession.

I just watched that play again. How the heck is that not in their top 10????? Man Espn your non wanting to give the big east any publicity is ridiculous. Could have easily spoken about on coach Louie’s birthday. Gtown rivalry from the 80’s. Mullin and Ewing. I didn’t even see the game highlights shown on the entire sport center unless I missed it. But I had it on and never noticed. I hate espn

Agree. He has done a nice job rebuilding. What wills offense be once Govan is gone? Does he have a talented replacement?

He’ll have no issue getting bigs. I was most impressed with Okinjo, he will be a problem for the next few years in the BE.

Whether you like Georgetown or hate them the fact is hat strong basketball program at Georgetown is good for the Big East Conference.
Speaking of rankings, I don’t care if we are ranked. Better they overlook us and keep complaining about our soft schedule as we rack up quality wins. Let’s focus on beating Nova and moving the needle a little bit every time. Keep focused on the job at hand.
I agree with The Honorable MCNPA regarding rankings at this point in the season.

Personally I hope the new AP and Coaches polls to be released this week will still do not include St.John’s.

I expect that the teams exclusion coupled with the ref screw job against Seton Hall has given these kids a bit of a chip on their collective shoulders, underscoring the importance of continued focus and hard work.

As long as the team continues rack up wins the rankings will take care of itself. A week ago Kenpom forecasted that StJoun’s would win 21 games pre Big East Tournament. Today Kenpom predicts StJohn’s will win 23 regular season games.

I welcome the “underdog- “us against the world” mindset determination for these kids.

Boys all of us old timers on here have been saying for for a long time. Win and they will come. The recruits wants in and now the city is all ours!!! Guys playing great!! This is a really likable group who are very mature. Our starting five are all dangerous and hard to guard. Look out for all the front runners....but hey, the more "fans" the better. Lets enjoy this, its been too long!

Nah time to start thinking like future champs and not off the radar underdogs. Team will respond well to prosperity, as we saw in the follow up to the massive Marquette W. Rank us, then see how high up we can move. Any ballot that doesn't include us at this point is completely invalid.

BS. On ESPN.Not only was it great defense. Excellent quick pass by Ponds.Followed by tremendous execution by LJ and Simon.A great sequence of transition basketball.

ESPN would've included that play if we lost.

Can't let their viewers know we are becoming relevant nationally.

Unfortunately for them, it's already too late.

Yup

They certainly publicized the crap out of Zion Williamson’s play that’s for sure.

I really don't care much. The program has mojo right now and with 3 starters fouled out we could have rolled over.

Note: Keita played 25 minutes. I feel that those ate the minutes that ate Mikey, and got only Greg's improvement
