Boards is there any chance he changes his mind about maybe coming back for his senior year? Probably not
Probably not. He sees himself as a pro. He will play in the G League if necessary.
How does that make any sense. The G League will still be available to him after his SR year, no?
He’s made it pretty clear he doesn’t wanna go to school anymore and wants to make money playing ball. He’s as good as gone
We played a team that started five first round NBA picks, on their home court. We might have a couple of second round picks. Those teams Fran recruited had first round picks, so we were very competitive with Duke then.

Because he's worked on everything he was told to work on this year. If he still doesn't get drafted after this year, then he probably never will get drafted. Might as well cash out, then come back, and risk major injury.

How much you get in the g-league? 100K? Wanting those funds rolling in baby.
How much you making in College? 0000000

Nonetheless, think it might be wise to graduate and possibly have an incredible SR year and improve draft stock. The G League is pretty much a wasteland.
First of all lets just move on and never speak of this again.
I do feel bad for Ponds as that was the equivalent of walking into a big job interview and throwing up on guy interviewing you.
Speaking of Ponds pretty incredible that is was finally the other guys on the floor and not any of the coaches who finally had to tell him to knock off that slow dribbling up the court crap.
It looked like Trimble said something to him. I really hate that. I watched the Murray State guard that is supposed to go in the top 5 and he does some annoying thing where he touches the bottom of both his feet when he takes the ball up the court. Very annoying as well.
played decent for 15 minutes then complete and total mental collapse and shots stopped falling. Didn't expect a win and I don't care about Ponds lack of scoring if he is controlling the game but the lack of poise from our starting 5 was unexpected.

Money is a motivator believe it or not.
G League players earn 35K, he can make that working anywhere.
There is not much you could do. Bad match-up. I think Zion and any 3 on his team could beat us 4 on 5. They had size and speed and strength at every position. Problem for rest of season is Simon's complete lack of confidence in his shot. From anywhere. His handle is gone too. As a coach, what can you do. You need him for other reasons. Very big disadvantage to have a guard that can't make a basket beyond an uncontested dunk. He is given open looks, and it takes away from his drives which everyone overplays.
Splitting hairs over 2 minutes where Roberts and Earlington could have played is meaningless. They are not ready to even play dukes bench players who are all top 100 recruits.
If you’re worried about injuries don’t worry there’s no way Ponds was getting injured cause he played like he didn’t wanna break a nail today
Not meaningless to them. If you have ever played ay a high level and put in the time and effort you want to get in the game. Especially against Duke at Cameron. May be a once in a lifetime experience for kids who work hard and bust hump all year. Mullin was never in this position as a player. Not good. I will end on that and move on.

He will probably play overseas where he can earn more.

If his back can't hold up in B.E. play, how will it hold up in the NBA?

That's my thought, get a degree and have a ridiculous SR season seems like a better option.

It's a lock that he's gone after this year? Crazy.
It could be a better option but that’s not how he’s thinking. Just hope he can finish big east play strong and get a good draw in the tournament and maybe have some Ponds magic in March, cause this is the last we will see of him in a St. John’s uniform

It is not about what’s right, it is about what the player and family think is best decision. Also, if a kid wants to earn some money somewhere, that most often trumps the unknown of returning. Staff don’t expect either he or Heron back is my impression.
