Even if we made our layups and hit our free throws I’m sure DePaul would have figured out a way to score 115 last night.

There is a reason Anderson was fired from his last job.

Agreed. And there’s also reason he won BE coach of the year and been hired at 3 high major jobs.

Sure if I was a BE coach I'd vote for him too to stay at st John's. Lol
I never realized 40 minutes of hell meant hell for st John's fans

We can debate CMA's history, but at this point the only thing that matters is what he's done, and what he'll do, in his time here. We know what he's done and it's a mixed bag. This year is over for all intent and purposes. Let's see how he fares in the off season, and how the team does next season. Not much else we can do since he's not going anywhere, no matter how much people kick and scream.

He didn’t recruit to fit his style of play here.
Doesn’t really have long players and only Posh,Mathis and maybe Wheeler are good athletes
Maybe with all the transfers was just scrambling to fill out roster.
Whatever he does he needs to add a couple kids that can knock down some threes

When not a single poster brings out the "we needed Soriano" excuse, you know even the biggest optimists recognize there is no brightness at the end of this tunnel.

Didn't see it in any of the posts in this thread, but does anyone know why Posh didn't start?
There is something going on behind the scenes that we are not privy too.  Posh is all heart when he is out there but hes doing something that the coach isnt happy with.

His lack of 3 point shooting is also alarming.  Outside of the half court heave, I dont think hes hit a 3 in months.  You cant have a pg that is 0 threat from 3.

I guess he's gone after this season. Hope not, but it certainly is leaning that way.

Coach Please Stop The BS Defense. Just play half court tough man-man D. Mix it in once in awhile. But 90% of the time we should just play tough hard nosed man-man D. That simple. Stop the gimmicks/traps/double teams. It no longer works!!!!Simple. When Depaul out up 99 on you something is wrong. Give it a try can't be any worse.

Help the kids perform.

It's been a few hours now.

How we all doing?

Cool as a cucumber. Wait until this team gets in gear for its late season March run.

Yes just ask Looie for his playbook

From what I saw of the game between drinks with Maher and Section 9, nobody did any coaching on either side.  It was just roll out the ball, run up and down, and whoever makes more shots wins.  DePaul made more shots because we didn't play any defense and their scoring star carried them.  Not an impressive game for either team.  TBH it was not a game that I ever expected to win - I figured we would beat Creighton and then lose to DePaul, unfortunately we lost both.  Sucks.

I have an even more basic question about our press.  From what I can see, it's not even a real press.  It's a double team.

We double team the guy that receives in bounds pass, and we leave the in-bounder open.  The in-bounder simply receives the return pass, and is in the middle of the floor with a numbers advantage.  Essentially our vaunted press is over at that point.

We almost never guard the in-bounder once he comes in bounds, which would force the guy who received the in-bounds pass to have to look up the floor.

I guess what I'm saying is that's its crazy easy to break our so-called press.  Yet we never mix it up - no half court trap - no 1-3-1.  We never do ANY of that.

We may as well start a thread bitching about next season. Let's nip it in the bud in case any posters get excited about the mid major transfers that will probably top off next season's roster. Also want to end early the late summer posts, no doubt due to heat stroke after excessive drinking, talking up the new found 3 point stroke our guards have developed after hoisting up 500 uncontested jumpers a day in an empty gym. If bottom 3 in the Big East is the best this squad can do, next season should be a real doozy. Better to keep our expectations low and hope we overachieve.

I actually think a starting lineup of Posh, Pinzon, Storr, Wheeler and Soriano has way more potential and should be better then this years starting 5.  Also will have a true backup pg in King, improvements from Stanley and Niwye.

I like that team a lot better then this years.

Until you don't.

Storr and King are moving up to D-1 hoops,a big jump from HS. No one has any idea what they are capable of. And Pinzon has played like 10 games this season. Hopefully he's a player.

There will be churn, so some of the guys you refer to will almost certainly not be here next season. Hoping their replacements are better.

Based on what we've seen from this staff the past 3 years, I would keep my hopes pretty low.

Look, I will watch all the games and root for the team with all of my heart and soul but let’s face it, barring any unforeseen major positive developments, this program is done. It’s sad but that’s just the reality of the situation.
