(POST-GAME) Creighton, Wed. Jan. 30, 6:30p, FS-1 / Sirius 98 & XM 207
Only the second home-and-home sweep that Mullin has gotten in his four years as head coach (Depaul two years ago).

We did beat Georgetown twice two years ago, but it was 2 out of 3 (second win was in the Big East Tournament).
Also Mullins first win @ Creighton. Check another goal off the list.

My nerves were shot from watching the Georgetown game, so I was constantly turning this game on and off ... and when I saw we were up, I didn't want to jinx them (especially since we were in Omaha), so I'd regularly switch to another channel for the next five minutes or so before going back to Fox ... where I finally stayed for the last four or five minutes.

Anyway, great win, great performance (from what I actually saw of it) by Ponds, and terrific game from LJ, whose all-around game I love.

Awsome win! As far as I am concerned this was our "best" defensive effort all season. Finally we came out aggressively, moving our feet and attacking them thus forcing Creighton to rush their offense.. We held the high scoring team to 67 points. A pleasant surprise I must say.

16 wins and no longer in last place.
Steve Lavin tee shirt night at Creighton? Guess it was a good omen.
Trimble did a decent job subbing for Simon.
The bench actually was effective for the first time all season.
Now all we need for the Duke game is Zion getting arrested on a DUI and we take Marquette to the wire.
Decent? You are a tough marker!
Waiting for Keita to be effective inside the paint.
Figueroa is so good, so confident in his game. Remember he doesn't take easy shots and still our best finisher. Doesn't force his shots and has a great shooting percentage. Averaging 15 points a game while not taking a whole lot of shots.

I shut the TV off right after the near 5 point play when Keita pulled a L.A. Rams vs. Saints defensive play, running over the screener om the Creighton 3 pointer. Checked the score 5 minutes later and knew it was safe to turn on the TV. I'm sure you, like me, would never do this as a youngster. All we knew was optimism then. Came from the 60 plusses of today getting the Mets, Jets and Knicks to win titles within a 12 month span. Now, we all feel doom and gloom around each corner.
I think Lavin was on the shirts because him and McDermott were messing with each other last year for dollar beer night and they had some inside jokes.
They could have had the inside joke against any team that didn’t fire him.

He missed the front end of the 1-and-1 off of that, and that basically killed any momentum Creighton had going.

Don't like Keita's defense at all, reaches instead of moving his feet. With our short bench we can't afford to lose him.

When Alexander hit the wide open corner 3 on the games first Possession I thought it was gonna be another Butler game. Thank God that was the games lowlight

Keita's pace is too frantic. I don't want kids like that in any sport. It's a complete deal-breaker for me. It's one of the reasons I loved Ponds from jump street...his pace is just awesome.

What a relief!

-Strong defensive effort

-Good things happen when we get Figueroa the ball in rhythm

-I really like getting Heron the ball off screens, as we did a few times tonight. He just needs a little room.

Let's have fun with the Duke game. It's not impossible for us to string some wins together over the second half of the BE schedule.

Please don't mess with this kind of karma, even in jest. This site has double value to me, both for what it is and from what it distracts me.

Great bounce back win tonight. Kids were engaged offensively, and improved defensively the last 25 minutes of the game. Now lets get one of the next two!

Mullin can’t coach and his heart is not really into this gig. Staff still has no recruiting interest other than
Matt who is overmatched.
Staff has no idea in regard to X’s and O’s other than Greg St. Jean.

And Ohhh ( insert posters lament) what a lost and disappointing season. What couldn’t been.
We need a new coach and a new arena - with chair backs and fanfare for the common man.

Oh wait, I just awoke from a dream - early to bed poster that I am. We won? Mullin coaches? The bench was useful? Some recruits were impressed?

Well then save my negative critique for when we lose to Duke, Marquette or, the gods of hoops forbid, both.

And to all a good night.

My senior year in high school when I dislocated my knee in the first basketball of the season the agony I felt was so bad I wanted to cry. When they popped my knee back in it was like an instant orgasm of relief till the pain set in again a little while later.

That's how I feel today. Excellent win. Really excellent win. Now lets get one out of the next two although saturday will be a herculean effort. Please one of the next 2 and win on february 9 my birthday weekend !!!
