You have all tried to evaluate each loss. What went wrong? Who had off night? Does coach rely on same players day in and day out?

the program is clearly not meeting our expectations.  Shit or get off pot. The ‘U’ realized this for football

we are a doomed program that will never deliver or meet fan expectations

Champ leaves. Then what? Who do we blame for off night?

Pull the fucking lug now and save some of our hair and high blood pressure.

Not sure what you are getting at regarding the U and Football but they are still D1 and play in one of the Big Five Conferences.  They haven’t been up to the standard U fans remember and expect (like us but with more lofty expectations and history of championships) but neither have the other two big Florida football schools (U of F and FSU)

No need for cursing and you could always just find another team to root for.  Dropping to DIII or leaving the Big East is not happening despite few who keep binging it up.

Frankly, in crunch time,  my coaching would be “Posh, go win it”. I’ll take the failures with the victories because I know this guy will either find a way or die trying.

I'm numb.

Give credit to Creighton's game plan involving use of, and the play of, their  bigs.   We tried to draw contact from them and get foul calls, but they were disciplined.

Good to see pinzon back, and he contributed too.

Didn’t see the game as I am several time zones away but checked the score and read the first page of this thread.  Based on that I understand that Wusu is still inbounding the ball in crunch time and I am guessing made another bad decision, Julian didn’t turn up neither did Wheeler.

I can figure out the rest I’m sure but what happened to Soriano.

Our best player comes up small in big games.  We can blame anderson, cry that wheeler had an off night, whine about Wusu etc.

But the fact is our best player being downright awful in 8 big east games this year is the reason we are not dancing.
But,  I haven't seen many people get better year to year under Anderson.

Now, maybe last year was a fluke WRT Julian, and we would have been better off if he had gone pro (though, I would have panicked all summer had he done that), but:

Heron regressed in Anderson's first year (injury was a part of that), and LJ got no better.

Last year, Earlington's numbers were down across the board from the year prior, and Roberts got better in other areas, but his offense stayed flat.  The second Cole's offensive game fell off even a bit, he was buried.

This year, Julian has been up and down, and i don't think Posh has had as much of an impact.

So, maybe Julian just played over his head last year (likely), but there is a pattern here of guys not getting better, or regressing, under this guy.  I think it speaks once again to his general incompetence when it comes to offense (or at least, an unhealthy obsession with defense), and it's why I don't think we'll ever reach our full potential under him.

When some guys just doesn't have it on a given night and others are playing well, playing time needs to be adjusted. Champ and Wheeler had rough nights and should have sat more. Stanley and Smith played well and should have played more.

I was also pleased to see Pinzon back. In the limited minutes he played, Pinzon showed that he has the potential to be a very good player for us in the future. I also like Nyiwe's aggressiveness. If he learns to control it and cut down on fouling, he could be a big help next year as well.

I, too, noted Wusu's body language when they showed CMA "in the huddle" in the second half. The other four players were paying very close attention to his comments but Wusu was looking all over the place and appeared to have a smirk on his face. Not a good look IMO.

Bottom line, as many have said, when Champ goes 3-16 and Wheeler goes 1-10 in the same game, it's hard to expect us to win. At this point in the season, there are no moral victories. This was a bad and very disappointing loss.

I noticed Wusu’s attitude in the huddle as well.  Definitely not a good look

Zero excuses for this loss zero. What was the score when he took Omar out.

You lost me when you said Posh hasn’t had much of an impact.  He struggles immensely with his outside shot but the kid is an absolute stud.  He’s cut down on the turnovers lately and is far more confident and decisive with the ball as Zach noted.  Also disagree about Cole not playing enough last year (quite the opposite as the kid was not a big East Athlete and was an absolute liability on D) as well as player development.

There’s plenty to criticize with CMA (offensive schemes, lack of timeouts, failure to adjust defensively, stubbornly continuing to play certain players regardless of situation, etc.), but Posh and Champagnie are not good examples of CMA’s shortcomings.

If what you are saying about Wusu is true (and I think that stuff is overblown sometimes), then it justifies everything Braziller was reporting last year about the transfers.  Specifically, that Anderson was biased towards the New York players (presumably, because he did not want to ruffle the feathers of the high school coaches).

I defended Anderson after last year on that accusation, because Posh and Julian were our best players, so why wouldn't he be biased to them?

He does seem to give Wusu and Mathis a lot more leeway, then some other guys.  Smith gets pulled at the first sign of trouble, and on a team that struggles shooting, Coburn barely sees the light of day.  Yet, he praises Mathis after the UCONN game, for getting a T, because he displayed "that fire we need" (whatever the heck that is).

Then again, it's not like he made a defensive mistake.  That almost seems worthy of suspension for this coach.

A most disappointing game--a lot of blame all around in front of a lot of folks at CA.  Got to win these to increase fan base.

This one is a tough one to swallow.  So disappointing. I’m not going to bash anyone.  It’s just so hard to be a St. John’s basketball fan.

First, a positive.

Great crowd tonight.  The Nywie three (I was yelling....Noooo!) and Mathis' late "and-1"  nearly brought the house down.

Not a good night for CMA, but if Wheeler and Champ are shooting 4-for-26, not even John Wooden is winning with this team.

Positives were great minutes by each of Stanley, Smith and Mathis and good productivity from Nyiewe and Pinzon in his very limited minutes, but great to see him back and healthy. Would have liked to see Stanley get more minutes in the second half. The love affair with Wusu must stop.

Yes, please!

not a good night for the win-loss but I think cma’s team is playing well.  Our best players skipped this one and it was easily winnable against a top Big East team.  Was there for us.  We didn’t execute.  Not CMA’s fault except maybe the end of game personnel choices.

Champy had 2 games last year w/ 13 points or less.  He has 8 games this year w/ 13 points or less and still a few games to go.

Because his ppg are similar to last year, I sort of thought he is playing similar to last year.  But that is not true.  He is dramatically worse this year then last year.  A huge step back.

What's it like being a St. John's fan?  Well, I'll tell you.....

I showed up at tonight's game and got to my seat early.  I took out my phone because I wanted to see if O'Connell or Kaluma would be playing for Creighton.  Not only did I learn both would be playing, I get blindsided by the Soriano injury.

My reaction was to grin and say......of course.

Less Wusu please. He does not have it now. Was brave and helpful freshman year but struggling with decision making this year.

Also baffled by the underusage of Stanley in 2nd half.
