(POST GAME) @Butler, Tues., Feb. 9, 9p, FS-1 / 570 AM WMCA

Who drew up the inbounds play in the timeout??  I mean, it wasnt mullin tyiong his shoes but why isnt Coach Mike drawing that up?

I don't wanna get too down after a loss but that shit hurts bad I'm gonna log out before I say anything stupid

Too often the ball gets dribbled away from champ when we need him to get a touch. That or the spacing on his side of the floor is atrocious. Those fouls on Posh defanged him it seems. He couldn't be more of the pest he could have been. We had some guys that gave very little. Williams, cole, and earlington come to mind. They do just a little more we win. Wusu has cojones, glad to have him.

gotta live with Dunn, good and bad. He doesn't hit those jump shots and we lose in regulation.

While this is an ugly loss we still control our fate. 5 of the next 6 games will be at home and a lot of them are Quad 1 potential wins.

It won't be easy but we still control our own destiny.

Horrible loss. We can't continue to give up big leads. We can't continue to let teams have their way inside on us. We can't have the wrong guys taking so many shots. Please figurd out the damn OOB plays. I see HS teams do it without trouble all the time. Long week until next game.

This one hurts. Inbound the ball, we win. Would have been nice to have a rim protector in the game when Butler tied it at the end of regulation. In OT, 2 missed front ends of a one and one. Thats the difference in the game. Gotta put this one past us and get ready for the next one.

What a frustrating loss.

16 point lead, ahead with second left on the clock. You simply have to win this game. Offense was really poor in the 2nd half, lack of continuity was apparent. Really wanted to see Moore play more in the 2nd half idk why he was on the bench down the stretch.

When you're on a winning streak with tournament hopes on the line, you need to be better than fumbling balls into the opponent's hands when it matters most. Dunn hit some big shots in the 2nd half, but my god. Time and time again he has shown that he can't be trusted with the ball in his hands late in games.

Pissed. On to Xavier.

I dont care if he’s a freshman or having a bad game, Posh or Champ should be receiving that pass. Dunn has been good, but like you said, he’s so nervy at the end of close games.

This game is kind of like that drink you have to take before a colonoscopy

Ugh. Gut punch. Just inbound the ball.

Love the two young stars but did not see Thompson being the guy to put the breaks on Posh's hot streak and Champagnie hit some big buckets for us but also had some bad turnovers. Got stripped in big spots down the stretch.

Moore was really frustrating them in the first half. Can't help but wonder if we didn't see him as much because the interior defense was so poor as the game went on. Dunn was visibly upset a few times.

I agree that Butler got some home cooking from the refs but when they're scoring that easily and we're blowing a 16 point lead as well as multiple chances to seal it I think we just have to own this one. Wasn't the difference.

This sucks but I'm going to choose to stay positive and supportive. Gonna remind myself of the things I like about this group.

I didnt like the body language when things got tough.  Kids showed their frustration at were barking at each other.  We came a little undone there.  Hopefully we learn from this.  Got to stick together.

Why didn't Dunn guard Thompson after Posh's four fouls? Posh could not guard up to his usual standard after that. Smoked him everytime down the stretch.

Great point

I'd just like to know why Dunn is ever, let alone always, given the ball in crunch time.  Champagnie's the best shooter, has the best hands, and is 6'7.  Inbound to him.

Basketball 101 you don't inbound the Ball with 12 seconds to go and throw a bounce pass  into the Corner to a guy who doesn't have the best hands to begin with . Picking the wrong guys to inbound is on the sideline Coaching . Champ should be inbounding to Posh . Every time .

Bad loss but you could see it all night. . .we were a step slow on defense all night, even the quick guys like Dunn and Posh looked a step slow tonight. They had a good strategy with respect to driving. We probably should have turned the tables and did the same to them as they have no shot blockers as well.

I think a key turning point was the 2nd foul call on Posh which should have been called an offensive on Hodges, It took him out of the game.

With that said, we still could have and probably should have won. We'll regroup and learn from it. Need to maintain the "hunter" mentality.

Butler earned the win. I thought we had tired legs at times. No blaming the refs. You can't expect much help on the road. I know CMA wants fast and athletic players, but for Pete's Sake there are athletic players that have size and strength out there. For many minutes, we had Posh, Dunn, Earlington and Wusu on the floor. They are just too small to rebound against the size of almost any Big East team. I think we were all hoping Earlington could channel Wes Unseld or Paul Silas, but players like that rarely come along.
After losing the lead, our guys could have folded against a very motivated Butler team. They didn't, and had a chance to close out. In the end game, execution is so important. It just wasn't there tonight.

We had a TO in our pocket.  If there wasn't an easy pass then we should have used it and drawn up a play with multiple options.  That corner pass was a dart at Dunn's feet.  Tough ball to handle.  We panicked and it cost us the game.  Tough one to swallow.
