(POST GAME). Boston College (@Mohegan Sun), Mon., Nov. 30, 6p, ESPNU / 970 AM WN

Wusu got on my radar tonight. This kid can pass, shoot, score and defend. Very high IQ player.

Especially impressed by his passing.

That was basically a 35 minute preview of what I think Mike Anderson is building at SJU which can be a lot of fun to watch and add up to a lot of wins.

And then 5 minutes of WHAT THE F***.

But I'll take it.

Was nice to hear ESPN complimenting us so much and our style. 40 minutes of fun. Hope some were watching...and then TV went out mysteriously with 5 min left :)
We played poorly
Only a bit in the beginning and in the end with 3 guys fouled out. Never than poor when you’re up 20+ on an ACC team. Got things to learn but no, we didn’t play poorly overall.
Roberts looked like he was hurt the last time he came out of the game. Looked like he was holding his shoulder
Oh, that doesn’t sound good
Again, that game shouldn’t even have been close but Mike A went with that questionable lineup 6-7 minutes into the second half. Gave BC momentum and it was hard for our young team to grab it back.

Posh got a little overwhelmed down the stretch there. A good teaching moment for our young guys. It’s a lot easier to stomach a “teaching moment” when We hold on.

A lot to like from us that game though.
Sometimes watching CMA's lineups will be super frustrating make you wonder what in the world is he doing (I've yelled that at my TV so many times). There's a method behind the madness though, he wants guys like Caraher and McGriff to always be prepared because you never know with injuries and foul trouble when they'll be needed. And it actually paid off at the end, McGriff had already been warmed up and played and when he was needed to close the game had a nice defensive play that help lead to a steal at the end, and was smart enough to come to the ball and run away and make that one free throw to seal the game. Getting that experience is priceless, and it'll pay off later in the season.

True but at last we actually now have more than one.

3-0. Always good to be unbeaten. Lots to like, lots to dislike. The good news is that some of the key players, like Posh, Cole, Wusu and Moore, are only going to get better as they adapt to the competition and D-1 basketball. Champ was great tonight. Never thought he would perform that well after being sidelined. Williams was outstanding as well. Hopefully Earlington comes around. It's a shame if Roberts might be hurt again, because Toro does not look comfortable in this style of play. On to BYU. It's going to be interesting to see if their bigs can keep up with the St. John's pace of play.

Wusu has impressed me so much. I've never been so happy to be wrong about a kid. He's got a really bright future, I love watching him play, IQ is so high for a freshman, and just knows how to use his body, I love it!

Let’s hope it’s just a tweak and Roberts is ok. We need his length

Well guys, there was a lot to cheer about tonight. Ugly at end but it's early in season and lots of new guys. We just beat an ACC team and dominated for much of game. Did I seem negative at the height of us dominating? ;)

To your point, and we saw this last year, it seems our team under Anderson has problems both closing out games and playing with a lead, big or small. I know Anderson and staff realize that, but it seems like there is a difficult adjustment when going from playing frenetic fast pace to game situations where it makes sense to slow things down and grind it out a bit. Youth and inexperience play a role in that as well, of course. It was nice to have that happen in this game against what looks like a pretty solid BC team and still come out with W. So the point is made yet again, hopefully the lesson is learned to some extent, but without the accompanying L.
