Possible Coaching Candidates

Langel could turn out to be a great coach but SJU needs a good coach who can raise the interest in SJU basketball as well as build up the fund raising. Pitino is probably the only possibility who has those credentials so he has to be the top priority but if he is not interested Langel will become a viable candidate.
We’d run Langal out of town before he had a chance to be successful. It was like year 5 or 6 before he turned the corner at Colgate.

By conference standards (support and facilities) Colgate is in the top third of the Patriot and St. John’s is not in the top third of the the Big East.

Colgate is enjoying the results of a) a good hire b) investment in the program c) patience and consistency. Somehow that doesn’t seem very St. John’s-y.

Would we? I think we have been very fair w/ mike anderson. We r not running him out of town. We gave him 4 years and hes just not producing. Mike Anderson has no one to blame but himself for losing his job in a few days.

I think St. John's has geography on our side. There is a reason after all, why after being let go at Louisville, Pitino took a job with a small mid major in NYC instead of somewhere else.

Not suggesting he's ours to lose, Gtown and ND are stiff competition. But we have a serious advantage. Does the 71 yr old really want to move and get reacclimated to a new region and culture.
I think he has visions of a rocking MSG and his final act winning big at STJ in The City.

You tell me, just looked it up because my memory is bad but it took 6 years before Langal had his first winning season at Colgate and seven before his first tournament.

That is a luxury that wouldn’t be afforded at St. John’s.

He’s more like a clean bill of health. I like Langel a lot and think he would be a really good choice. But not over Pitino.
Hypothetically if you are In your 40s at a bar. Not married maybe looking for a girlfriend but you also want to get laid right away and you want something that has potential

You meet a hot chick in her 30s its only 10pm Jouney " dont stop beleivn " hasnt even played yet

Next week you are at same bar you meet a hotter chick but she's 22 and you aren't Monte but who knows she's only 22 who knows what you are getting

If you aren't Monte you go with the better bet

For the record I'm not speaking from personal experience this time like yesterday I met Nathalie when I was 34. :)

I have heard that two Board members that know him have been in contact with him.

I still think he ends up at a football school but we shall see.
Gotta cut my vacation short lol, not that I ever went on a vacation, but had to stop posting.
Just thinking of him going Georgetown instead of to SJU because we never ever tried? That thought was doing something to me in a negative way, and I needed to take timeout from posted.

I seen these rumors and I had to come back on, I want Rick coaching at SJU in the worst way.

If nothing else, atleast they're trying.

He's a native New Yorker also.

Pitino was born in New York City, and was raised in Bayville, New York. He was the team captain of the St. Dominic High School basketball team in Oyster Bay, Long Island.

Just wonder if he was a ST. John's fan while growing up, if he was then he'll definitely come to SJU.
Even if he wasn't a SJU fan, he still knows the tradition of SJU.

And you were so drunk you thought she was Asian until the second meeting 😁
That's actually as you know 100% true. March of 04 or 05 I dont remember

2004-05 I log onto redmen.com at like 4am and Traczok who lives in Cali sees me online and pm's me. He says " what are you doing online so late " I tell him " I just got home from NYC I met this really hot asian tonight "

2nd date driving down west side highway 15 minutes after picking Nat up

mjmaherhr " wait aren't you asian ? "

Nathalie " I'm peruvian why the fuck would you think I'm asian "

8 years or so later we go to Cali on a st johns road trip with Traczok and his wife and Nat and I get engaged in Sonoma on the trip Traczok and his wife Lisa found out before our own family ( st johns lost on the trip )

2022 we get married and nycredmen is our photographer and Nat says when she does a zoom with him before our wedding " thank god he seems normal are you sure he roots for st johns because I'm not going to have your school ruin our wedding day "

Yesterday when I'm complaining about CMA Nat says " you've been complaining about the same St Johns crap since we met except for a few years when Lavin was coach "

I personally would have ended the date right there if I were you 😁
And that's why we are friends. We have the same fetish luckily for me Nat looks half asian ( well you met her you can verify that's a peruvian thing at worst maybe 40% asian. lol )

I kind of get the feeling he may have been a Dr. J fan, which might mean he rooted for UMass before playing for them, but hopefully he liked us as a kid beforehand.

Tony Kornheiser was a St. John's fan in his youth though, so if Pitino to St. John's happens, I expect an overwhelmingly positive segment on PTI.
