But keep in mind many of these posters arguing SJU does not have the $$$ to pay a good coach are the same one's who argued that SJU was unlikely to fire Mike Anderson because of his large buyout. They seemed to have quietly moved on from that without actually admitting they were wrong.

Not sure if you mean me, but I've said I'm willing to admit that I was wrong about CMA not getting fired. I stand by my prediction that his buyout will neccessitate an up-and-comer coach for financial reasons.

Nothing really of substance in that Fran article. He says we should hire a hungry, energetic worker. I agree. Would much prefer somebody hungry and energetic than somebody apathetic and lazy.

If you read between the lines, he's saying we're not getting Pitino, Mack or any other experienced high-major coach.
 
One thing about Frans article that rings a bell is his comments that SJU has the worse facilities in the big east. This is nothing new but it calls to mind Craggs comments when he arrived at SJU about improving facilities with nothing to show and nothing imminent.
Looks like SJU will hire an up and comer as coach saving big money and Father Shanley, Cragg and Anderson will just continue the futility.

BTW-I don't think it will be Brey but assume for a second Brey is the next coach, he is not doing it for peanuts. He would demand $3 mil+ so this idea that SJU would hire Brey only on the cheap is nonsense.

Brey would not be my first choice but he’s a better coach than CMA. He actually runs a structured offensive system.
 
Fran is right. Nothing he said is wrong. I don’t think he knows anything at all. His theory is right though. We need young and hungry. We tried it with Norm and abandoned since. Lav worked out overall and the rest haven’t.

We shoot for Rick otherwise go young. I have some ideas but waiting for CMA to be official then I’ll make my case
