Possible Coaching Candidates

Kevin Bannon 4 years, Gary Waters 5 years, Fred Hill 4 years, Mike Rice 3 years, Eddie Jordan 3 years. Nothing changed at Rutgers except for when they finally got a hire right with Pikiell.
They changed conferences
Absolutely and the Big Ten gets big big bucks, more than anyone. And that’s not a knock on their coach but more than one thing can be a factor in their case.

Hopefully none of you who are singing Pitino’s praises are related to him.

We already went through something similar when Bobby Gonzalez’s sister anonymously advocated for him.

Good times.
May not all be related but we are all goombahs!!!!! :ROFLMAO:

Has he repented?

Pitino would not be hired by St. John’s to be a choir boy. He would
be hired to be head men’s basketball coach.

Anyone who desires to take the sanctimonious position regarding Pitino
should review reported transgressions by past senior StJ’s Administrators.

Basic tenants of Catholicism include redemption- second chances, and
forgiveness; a belief that people deserve fresh chances. People can
change.

I don’t know Mr. Pitino but I am told by someone in a position to know
that Pitino has not had a drink of alcohol in 5 years. Since Pitino has arrived
at Iona he has seemingly kept his nose clean despite NCAA scrutiny.

If this was “Slick” Rick Pitino from 10 years ago, I would say "no way".
People change. Pitino is doing penance in the MAAC. His wife remained with
him after his reported indiscretion for which, you will recall he was blackmailed.

So yes, if StJ’s decides to change head coaches after this season then
Father Shanley should keep an open mind and schedule lunch with him.
I would be surprised if Fr. Shanley does not already know Pitino through
their mutual ties at Providence College when Pitino's son Richard attended.

I can guarantee the 5 years without a drink is not true.

If there is a coaching change, which I am not so sure of, I have been against Pitino. But these points you make give me something to rethink. If we have Pitino for only 3-5 years--because who knows how long he'll have the passion to coach--aren't we back to the same spot? I'd rather we try to find a transformational type of coach we can have for a decade or more. Kind of like Mark Schmidt has been at Bonaventure, Cooley, and likely Pikiel.
