Ponds

Shamorie Ponds will return to St. John's next season, per his father. Entered 2018 NBA Draft without an agent. #SJUBB
Yes!!!!!!!
Oh HELL yes! Now go get Heron and get him eligible. So close to a miracle here.
And then extend Mullin for pulling off miracle? :)

Aside from the uncertainty of being a first round pick, I wonder if the Heron news also helped to sway Ponds to remain in school.

Very interesting krammars.
The NCAA turned down a similar request in 2015 by Khari Harding, a football player who had transferred to Tulsa from Auburn. His dad had cancer.
Maybe the NCAA wants to revise / refine that rule and Mustapha will be the first allowed under a new interpretation?!!?
Sweet if that’s the case...and Mustapha transfers here!
But Paultzman may be right: the world may end and we’ll need rocket ships!

So blessed to have you for another year Shamorie! No reason this team can't dance even if Mustapha has to sit a year. If, on the other hand, he's cleared to play immediately, watch out!

Have to admit I'm surprised by him staying. I stated a few months ago I thought he'd leave. So I'm ecstatic that I was wromg.

So considering the rest of the BE 1st Team is leaving, does that make Ponds the BE Pre-Season POTY? I know the league is bringing in some top talent, but couldn't see a Freshman winning the award before playing a game. Who else would compete with Ponds?

Nope.

Yeah, with Ponds it will be fun next year, if Heron comes, it should be alot of fun and should make some noise in the NCAA Tourny.
Now with that said. Ponds and Marvin will be gone after next year. If Heron equals Ponds stats then he'll vprobably try for the nba as well, and Simon might leave as a grad transfer as well.
I'm thinking if we blow up and get 25 wins and something like 15B.E. wins, some top recruits will see this and might take a chance on Mullin & SJU. Next year could change the way recruits look at SJU.
If all this happens and we still can't recruit top HS talent, then no extension for Mullin.
Gotta think bigger then one great season then back to crap ball.

Gotta be good every year.

Talk about putting the cart before the horse! How about we finish in the top half of the Big East and make the tournament first!

I think it should be Ponds in a shoe in, but other contenders would be spellman, Govan, Baldwin. and Howard

Excellent news, and the right decision. With more firepower around him, and more capable players, should lighten the load in all respects and allow him to be 100% infomercial - ShamWOW!

Great news that the Ponds used common sense in making their decision. The money will be there next year and possibly Slick can be in a better position of strength if he leads St. John's into the Big Dance. College and growing as a person also won out. Poppa Ponds may have been guided by "Cents and Sensibility: What Economics Can Learn from the Humanities". Highly recommended reading. Too bad Poppa LoVett didn't read the book!:(

I once heard an expression that a Jets fan could find a bag of 20s and bitch about them not being 50s. I think this post qualifies for that.

Anyway, thanks to Shamorie for making the right decision and making me a happy guy. How about Bale back to White Hart Lane next? A boy can dream, right?
