Pace Exhibition

One of the things to take away from this exhibition is that our second team will not be winning any Big East games for us. UGH!
Another is that Zuby must be kept off the foul line after breaking a St. John's record for number of missed foul shots in a game.
It was very obvious that the guys that played today know very little about each other's game. It looked like 5 random guys playing pick up ball in a school yard. Ledlum was horrendous on offense and that is being kind.
Pitino likely under-coached his team today by not not having the bulk of the offense taken by Alleyne, Taylor and Jenkins who could have beaten this small Pace team had they played 35 minutes together as a unit. Alas, he chose to substitute mostly with his bottom 5 players on the team........something we likely not see again this season.
Dingle and RJ are obviously serious missing pieces and Soriano better stay healthy all year because Zuby will be immediately fouled every time he touches the ball.
A loss to Stony Brook will cause a number of Charlestown cancelations.

A loss to SB or any early season game shouldn’t cause any cancellations. We have Pitino and a talented group. It’s only going to keep getting better. Support the team through and through.

Very confident the first 12-15 games this season will be a complete rollercoaster. There will be some nights we are convinced this a final 4 team and others like this one where nothing goes right. It’ll be a fun ride that’s a guarantee, especially when this team hits its stride!

I couldn’t care less about the outcome with Dingle, Soriano, and Luis out and Taylor playing only 8 minutes.

This team will struggle to score without Dingle. That’s what made his addition so important.

Shooting will be an issue, as I’ve posted ad nauseam. But Soriano, Luis, and Taylor can all get you 15 pts in a pinch.

I was caught up watching my Jets win a game that set Football back thirty years. Don't know what to make of this game. Glad I didn't see it as I was in attendance for the STAC game.
30 years might be kind. I had a choice of watching this or going to the St. John’s game and watching either one would have been very, very painful.

The play was really bad, STAC level bad. I won’t call anyone out at this point but my hot take was if missing guys against Pace created this level of performance then this roster is not as deep as hyped. As many followed the game only through a stat sheet I will fill in a couple of negative gaps.

There were a lot of air balls on threes. And so many missed layups I lost count. Manhandled on the boards - remember this was Pace. Just a brutal performance. Much worse than the score.

Anyone who wanted this broadcasted can relax as all they missed was trauma. The best thing about this game was it didn’t count.

Thank the lord this wasn’t televised, I am at church praying for Zuby to straighten out his foul shots…
Those of us who were there wished it was a closed exhibition.

Norm Roberts would have said "Pace is a great team and I'm proud of how out guys fought back"

I saw CRP eye the table next to his chair and thought for a second at sitting on it.

In 2009 Local D2 Catholic school LeMoyne beat Syracuse 82-79 in an exhibition game. Syracuse went on to 30-5, 15-3 (1st pl Big East).

The best thing about the game was seeing the 114 guys Ralph, Brian, and Darrin, also Cesar (the 30k man!), Wendell, Sterling, my good friends Bobby and Ron, FanSince65 and Mrs., Matt A.,and a bunch more. I was going to call Monte about an extra ticket and he should publicly thank me for not doing so. Still and all great seeing so many old friends.

Cant wait to see many remote fans in Charleston - Otis at top of that list.

I'm sure this was no grand plan by Pitino except maybe to give the freshmen plenty of run to get them acclimated.

Pitino has been saying you learn more by losing a game like this because you identify more things to work on. In that case, busy busy week.

Would take something really awful to ruin my excitement for this season and an exhibition loss to Pace just doesn’t qualify.

I think it should give our fans some reason to pipe down a bit tho. Whole glass houses thing.

Top NCAAM basketball headline on ESPN- only thing (besides injuries) that you need to avoid during a game like this.

Now I'm wondering if the reason St. John's didn't stream these games is that they were afraid of losing. Hopefully not the case and these were just failed attempts to sell out the games.

I remember that one and it shouldn't be lost on anyone that Syracuse played man defense for that entire game, which goes to show that these exhibition games are where coaches experiment with different lineups and ideas instead of treating them like actual meaningful games. It doesn't necessarily excuse the poor play yesterday, but it's clear he was definitely tinkering with some things instead of just trying to win the game.

Also, while their opponents were clearly a step above ours, both #1 Kansas and #4 Michigan State lost exhibition games yesterday to Illinois and Tennessee, respectively.

As others have stated. If we look this way against Stony Brook, then I'll be concerned. That said, to get so many players to blend together and play as one unit, it's going to take some time. We definitely have the right coach to do it, but this is a team that's probably going to be all over the place the first couple months of the season.
