We just don't have the depth of program at this time to overcome that. If Sanchez becomes eligible, Lavin and co. will become genuises again.

I don't like losing. However, I continue to enjoy the program and the direction we are headed. I kept hearing the announcers last night - and pardon me if this ha already been beaten to death, I'll beat it a little more just to make sure - we are the youngest team in the nation. Not in the top ten youngest programs.
We are the youngest team in the nation and no one can teach experience.
A Frank Morgan said in the Wizard of Oz (when he was playing the gate keeper), "no way, no how!"
I like our kids. I would not want another coach.
Remember when my college colleague was almost out at Duke? Remember how many years it took P.J.C to get Seton Hall to the top? A decade???
Patience is such a fine virture but takes patience to develop. He that can have patience, can have what he will (Ben Franklin 1706-1790 and Ben, by the way, never saw a shot he didn't like! as in revolutionary War shooting etc. oh well I tried a little levity)
All the best.
Announcers get paid to -- well announce. I remember during those horrible Roberts years, the announers would always put a positive spin on things, stating that we were young, on the rise, etc. Most of it is cue card fodder from people who nothing about our program.
Mind you, I'm not ready to call for Lavin's ouster -- I think that is very premature. But Lavin has made some fundamental miscalculatons, which I have been posting about for the past year. The fact is -- with our without Sanchez, the chances of us making the tournament this year were very remote. Too many new players, not enough skill (as opposed to talent) and no lunch pail players. See Pinkston, Javon. It was no accident that the majority of the OBJECTIVE commentators had us pegged for the bottom of the Big East, assuming that Sanchez would play.
Lavin is a very good recruiter, but we cannot recruit the level of talent that Kentucky does. Accordingly, we need to recruit skilled players (as well as freak athletes and fundamental skilled players) who are going to stay for 3-4 years. Moe leaving last year (not anybody's fault) really hurt us. He had skill and talent. He would have been a nice piece around which we could have built this year's team. If Harrison and/or Sampson leave after this year (I think Sampson will be back) that really puts us in a hole going forward. We desperately need cohesion. Success breeds success. If we can return a full compliment next year and get two legitimate big men who can rebound, we have a chance to be an NCAA team. If that happens, recruiting doors will open up again. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done.
Put simply, I haven't given up on the season. Heck, I didn't stop rooting for the team when it was Darryl Hill and four scrubs vs. the Big East -- I'm not going to stop now. Realistically, however, I think we should prepare ourselves for a tough season and hope that we see improvement and that our major contributors return next year.[/quote]
For some reason the formatting got screwed up so I'm reposting this.
