Interestingly, despite his unimpressive stats at MSU for two years, Matt apparently was extremely high on Wright becoming a very good BE player. Easy to say that is “coach speak” but staff said same about Simon, who also had similar stats at Zona, although for one year, though not two as Wright. I doubt he will have same impact as Simon, but trust staff’s judgment that he’s a keeper.
Correct. And although the opinion here is that Heron is a sure fire goner at the end of the year that is yet to be seen. He might not even be eligible until 2019. So is it really that strange that high school guards interest started fading in SJU? Don't forget that Williams, Simon, Dixon, and Trimble are all scheduled to also be on the team next year.
There are three guys we are still recruiting who we could really use and who would contribute immediately. If (or when depending on your POV) they all commit elsewhere that will be painful.
I strongly expect Heron to split if he has solid season & projects well w NBA guys. If ineligible, not a lock he sticks around either, but who knows.
Best case scenario believe it or not, would be Heron leaving to become a first round draft pick after impressive NBA workouts, joining Ponds in the first round too. Yes, the roster would take a hit, but big plus for recruiting efforts. Should Ponds have great tryouts agains and stay in draft, but Heron doesn't, Heron will be more likely to trust that Mullin, GSJ, and Mitch helped get Ponds from very good player to NBA caliber by working on the defieincies noted by scouts, and thus stick around for one more year.
Time to take the balls out, guys. It's going to be the best season here in years.
I disagree. Best case scenario for us would be having 2 very nice seasons w Heron eligible this year ,but leaving next year as a first rounder. Hence we will have back to back classes producing first rounders.
