Official SF Game Thread

Refs are really nit picking us. Lavin looks pissed. SF is really good at penetrating our D...wish we could do that. Good to see Harrison and Greene heating up 36-35 SF
 
We are LUCKY to be down only 3... 38-35 at the half. Obekpa was just caught spectating on that last drive.
 
I know we like to get in your face on d but white chocolate can't shoot a lick. Sag off of him he is getting by defenders at will
 
38-35 SF at half...I'll take it! SF is playing above their heads and we were awful for much of the first half. Great to see us cut that deficit down. Hopefully our adjustments finally put water on their 3 pt shooting and we can get a decent lead going.
 
IMO, we haven't played well (with the exception of Harrison), and we're only down by 3 on the road.

San Fran is really making the extra pass to get open looks. They are surely taking advantage of our discomboblation of our defense. We may have to mix it up a bit, defensively, in the second half. I'd also like to bring some pressure after made baskets.
 
And also, I have seen at least 2 or 3 occasions inside where Obekpa or someone else defending did not even bother JUMPING or getting a hand up! How are you going to sit and watch these easy buckets as arguably the best shot blocker in the nation?
 
Terrible display in the first half.

The same issues that we have every single game creeps up game after game. You simply cannot win playing this kind of ball.

One of the best shotblockers in the nation is constantly guard a man above the 3 point line because we constantly are switching. And they never rotate back to their proper assignment. They just leave him up there.

It is so annoying to see.

Exactly! Make him shoot it. He hasn't shown he can hit from the outside. I'd also like to pressure him more after made baskets.

Our guards don't move their feet quickly enough...Pointer needs to play more and stop this guys penetration

Difference between having a real PG and a combo playing the point. Branch should improve that aspect of the Johnnies game.
 
hoping Lavin settles them down in the second half. Crazy energy by both teams in the first half.
Same bugaboo for opposing teams, wide open threes. Must be addressed as the season goes on.

This post about summed it up. Way too many open looks. Not enough "hustle" to cover on defense. At times we stand around on the set offense with no movement. However, defense is the real issue. I would like to see the adjustments you mentioned. I just worry that if we bring some pressure after made baskets might we give up even more open looks. But its worth trying. What we saw in the first half is not gonna get it done.
 
I dont know what that was we were playing in the 1st half but it certainly wasnt defense. If SF didnt miss some wide open shots we'd be down by 10 or more. The corner 3 as always is always there.

Jones was in there for a spell. 1 rebound that I can recall (he was fouled on it).
 
We are way to over aggressive 35 ft from the basket! There guards are killing us off the bounce.... Very simple, we are getting beat, have to help and are leaving the wings wide open looks!!!! Insane!!!!
