Creighton:

IMO, Marquette's is a little tougher then ours, DePaul's even/slightly softer, and I think Creighton's non-conference schedule is WAY SOFTER then ours. Those are the only Big East teams (along with us) that have released the non-conference schedule so far.

Here's Xavier:

November:
Sat., Nov. 2 Exhibition game TBA
Fri., Nov. 8 Gardner-Webb
Tues., Nov. 12 Tennessee
Fri., Nov. 15 Morehead State

Moron.

Syracusewon 30 games and made the final four. They are top 25 team again.
Wisconsin won 23 games and made the tournament. It will surely be a top 25 team as well.
Bucknell won 28 games and made the tournament.
Ole Miss won 27 games, made the tournament, and won the SEC.
Penn State was awful, but they are still a Big 10 team
San Fran will be a 20-25 win team this year, and I think will make the tournament.
Youngstown State won 18 games last year.

Fordham, Dartmouth, Columbia, and Longwood are all terrible...but every team in the country has cupcakes like that on the schedule.

You really think San Fran makes tournament? You're saying they will beat Gonzaga in the WCC?

In bold: Exactly!

It is interesting that they all play Arizona State.

Lenn Robbins & Dickie V are basically saying what many of our fellow posters have said here as well. I wasn't too thrilled with our non conference schedule initially but now I am accepting of it b/c others have made good points on here, especially about how other schools do the same thing. If Lenn Robbins or Dickie V would not have called it weak, someone else from CBS or ESPN eventually would have. Lets just worry about winning the games on the schedule than worrying about who is on the schedule (or who should or shouldn't be on it).

So right now, there are two Big East teams with worst schedules and one at least on par. Xavier's is better, by virtue of the Atlantis tourney.

I dont think the schedule is that soft either, Robbins is a 1st grade turd, everyone that reads the Post or this site knows that.

To Robbins' credit, he does say that we may end up with a high seed in March and that we have a "wealth of talent". Sounds to me like he expects nothing more than an NCAA trip from us, weak schedule or not.

Rosters are always changing, but I'd prefer to cite facts than try to predict what all of those teams will or won't do.
I do think San Fran will be a tournament caliber team. They bring back pretty much the whole roster and have some solid pieces. WCC coud easily get two bids this year.

In any event, we are playing four teams that made the tournament last year in our OOC schedule...one on the road and one on a neutral court. That's not murderer's row, but it's not a cakewalk either.

It is a solid schedule nothing crazy. According to Lavin on Twitter it is difficult to schedule out of conference games because teams are looking to see how the expansion works out in new conference. I think he is alluding to Duke- reasoning playing Dartmouth In January.

I think he really means the new conference we are in is unpredictable. Playing everyone twice is something new. And not easy IMO. Also unsure how the in conference SOS will work out. So don't kill yourself with a crazy non conference year 1. And see what happens.

Very intelligent post Moose, especially your point of this being year one of the new conference and the uncertainty of the strength of the conference schedule.

Are my other posts not intelligent or something :(

Agreed, the conference schedule is really not going to be easy. Went down the list yesterday, and it's not easy to find where sweeps are going to come from. I think we'd do well to go 6-6 against Marquette/Georgetown/Villanova/Xavier/Creighton/Providence. That leaves Butler, Seton Hall, and DePaul to get some separation, and going better than 4-2 there won't be easy. I know it's not nearly that simple, but I think that's a reasonable baseline of where the strength of the conference schedule is at.

The OOC is not the most difficult slate that's ever been put together, but we're not going to walk right through it either. We have the most talented roster we've had in 15 years, and the important thing is that we actually take care of business and pick up 10 wins before conference play starts.

FWIW, LaSalle v. Stony Brook is the other game of the Holiday Festival doubleheader per Jon Rothstein twitter.

LaSalle is supposed to have a good team, so that game is intriguing.
