Official 2013-2014 Schedule Thread

If so, it's definitely not out of fear. There's no point for them to play us until we start posting 24-6 records consistently in the regular season. And they can get a game at the Garden without us.

Euro trip:

@STJCoachLavin: Eager to take #stjbb foreign tour to France, Italy and Spain this August.
Extra practices, games and educational dimension valuable to team!

Am I wrong for thinking we may be involved in this???

@PennBasketball: We are excited to announce our 10-day Italian trip this August! Headed to Venice, Florence and Rome!http://t.co/BLJqwB5D0C

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball program will be embarking on a foreign trip beginning August 14, traveling to Italy for 10 days. The Quakers will play four games while overseas.

This will be the Penn men’s basketball program’s first foreign trip since 2003, when the Quakers went to Spain. Coincidentally, Penn is one of three Big 5 schools who will be in Italy in mid-August along with Temple and Saint Joseph’s.

Penn is scheduled to fly overnight, leaving Philadelphia on August 14 and arriving in Venice the morning of the 15th. The team will stay in Venice for two nights, then bus to Florence on August 17. After two nights in Florence, the team will bus to Rome on August 19. The Quakers will depart Rome the morning of August 23, flying back to Philadelphia. The team is set for sightseeing tours in all three cities.

The tentative game schedule has the Quakers matching up with Tezenis Verona on Friday, Aug. 16; Giorgio Tesi on Sunday, Aug. 18; Prima Napoli on Tuesday, Aug. 20; and FMC Ferentino on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

@jmverlin: St. Joe's and Temple will now be joined in Italy by Penn, apparently. La Salle? Villanova? Who's next?

Involved in what way? I don't think this is meant to imply the three Philly teams are traveling together though they may have worked together on scheduling the Italian opponents, although the article does point out that this is a coincidence. But since they're only going to Italy it seems like and entirely different schedule and unrelated. Temple and St Joes wanted to get in Vatican visits, not sure whey Penn is there? Who's the Quaker Pope? ;)

Well, this has to be part of it. Looks like this team/tourney will be playing against Oregon, Boston College and Princeton.

@BsSantJulia: We can confirm that @SJUCoachLavin will be in our 29º Torneig BBVA in Sant Julià in his 25th year as a coach. Let's welcome him!

I hope there is an internet feed for these games. I'm not banking on that being the case, but would love if that was the deal.

You'd think the chances would be slightly higher since they're playing in some form of tourneys and not just one off exhibitions.

Those this provide an opportunity for the Radio & TV program run by the university?

let's just hope that the Packers aren't in the Super Bowl that weekend.....Marquette could end up with home court advantage for that game at MSG...

Well that's one Conference game that we can pencil in the date now ; )

Actually 2, we know that the game at Xavier is Dec 31.

I'm not sure why but it seems a bit weird to me that we are playing a conference game while the other game is non-conference. I assume tickets for a double-header are split evenly among the teams. That is to our disadvantage as the home team in a conference matchup---especially when we are poised to sell out the Garden again. :)

Since Fox TV is driving force for the day and working hard to make new BE a marketable, respected power league, I'm fine with this.

How is it a disadvantage when its a season ticket holder game? If our fans buy tickets its a moot point.
