Off Season Tidbits

This kind of hard work (Roberts) usually translates to success. Suspect we will be in good shape at the 5 with Josh and Toro.
Congrats to Josh for working his butt off this summer!

I think its pretty fair to say if he had a real coach for the majority of his college tenure he would have been a more than halfway decent player.

We're always complaining that we can't get athletic big men. Well, he had a good body and he wasn't painfully slow.

I'd say we should complain more that we couldn't find a coach . . . but we did that too.

Cain had legit PG skills, I hated fact that Lou buried him behind Buchanan. Glad he had a great senior season. Shawnelle Scott was a good one too. Nice back to basket skills. Still attends SJ games
Shawnelle coached my son's friend at Beacon School in the city. The kid loved him. He and Harry Streep(Merle's brother) were the coaches. Shawnelle currently teaches physics, physical education and coaches basketball at The Millennium Brooklyn High School. Another SJU graduate who not only excelled on the court, but off the court as well.

At the risk of drifting off topic, here's a Shawnelle interview from last year. Some good stuff in there if you have time to watch.

Sat in front of me a few years back at MSG. Seemed like a real nice guy
remember that ferocious dunk he had (against Syracuse, if I remember correctly?)
Was that the msg win Mullins first year ? I think that’s the game our 114 Buddy Ralph said “ God I don’t care if we win another game just let us beat Syracuse “
