Off Season Tidbits

McGriff recent tweet: "I can never get too comfortable"

Could mean he's motivated or something like that but any idea if it means something else?
I don think it means anything. When u get comfortable u tend to get lazy and not work as hard. He is just trying to stay motivated.
Got to say I'm rooting for the kid. He was CMA's first recruit and was out with an injury last season. I'd like to see him show his stuff.
Me too. He looks real qucik and can really handle the ball. If he can be a solid backup pg to posh, that would be great. heck maybe he beats posh out. You never know.

Yes, the outdoor opera is spectacular.

If anyone follows Vince Cole on Instagram check out his story section today. He posted what appears to be short clips from a full court pick up game.

He's going to be very good. He's a starter from day 1. Natural scorer. Just knows how to get buckets. I know that he's only showing shots that go in but I don't know that we've had a guy like this in awhile. He's like Ponds or LJ in that he'll launch shots from 4-5 feet beyond the 3-point line but he's clearly a better shooter than either. Also he needs MUCH less space. He needs almost no space at all. He does this step back and if you give him 6 inches of room he can get his shot off. Being a 6'6 guard in college helps I'm sure. His closest SJU comp might be a taller, lankier Harrison. I know he has flaws we can't see yet but it was good to be reminded of what this guy can do after the recent disappointment. Help is most definitely on the way.

No wonder Phil is returning there.

Congratulations to Niagara University President Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., who has been appointed president of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) for the 2020-21 academic year.

Here's an off season tidbit. I just picked up these gems from the online bookstore. If we're going to wear masks, might as well represent.

I don't think he ever got that year back that he essentially lost for stepping on the court for 5 minutes at NC St. So my guess combine that with the fact he has already sat a year and in this case he is going back home (North Carolina) they threw him a bone.

Seriously the guy has burned 2 years of eligibility and how many total minutes has he even played in those 2 years?

Not surprising. He has already lost 1 year of eligibility and would have lost another I he sat out plus he moved closer to home at a time of COVID.

Well you don't lose a year of eligibility necessarily by sitting out as long as you have your redshirt. He still has not taken his redshirt year yet, because remember yes he sat the equivalent of a year. A traditional sit out is you sit at the same school for both the Fall and Spring semesters. But Ian sat out the Spring semester of 2018-19 and the Fall semester of 2019-2020. But since basketball covers both semesters he actually still stepped on the floor in both school years. Briefly at NC St during the 2018-19 season and at SJU during the 2019-20 season. Therefore he never actually redshirted.

Yes but 5 to play 4 is also in play. Steere is done in spring 2023 no matter how much he played/s. So maybe he didn't lose a year of eligibility, but given how little he played in his first two years they were essentially lost.
