He had 17 and 9 one year for us too. ;) :) Actually I liked AliB when he got here, thought he would be more of a productive player for us. Not sure if it was a confidence thing with his shot but he isn't the only one that had that problem, witness hooper, Bourgault, and Fruedenburgh.

Nice to see Amar getting a chance to make a living playing hoops. Good for him. Maybe Ponds gets a second chance in the NBA Development league. If not, hopefully he can find some opportunities overseas. No shame making a living chasing the dream. Wish them luck.

My son an SJU student just received the email that all students get in free to games at Carnesecca arena .

I’ve been calling for this for decades. The small amount made off students was stupid. Build a following like Cameron... make em line up for seats and fill it up. Great move.

Maybe they should let the students get free upper deck msg seats for our non marque games also.

Adam Zagoria reporting on Twitter it’s a two way contract with Toronto Raptors. He will be at ring ceremony tomorrow. Good for him.

Letter from Mike Anderson to St. John's students[/quote]

CMA is just such a class act. The man is working non stop both on and off the court to improve all aspects of the program. I really take my hat off to him. The man just doesn’t take a day off and is truly to be respected.

Top 101 players as ranked by CBS.

Heron checks in at #50 (1 spot ahead of Ty-shon Alexander) LJ not on the list. Plenty of Big East players on here most notably Powell at #2 followed by Howard at #3.

50. Mustapha Heron, St. John's: In his first season at St. John's following his transfer from Auburn, Heron acquitted himself nicely as a co-star to Shamorie Ponds. But now it's Heron's time to shine. Under a new coaching regime, he should operate as the new No. 1 option in the Red Storm's new system.

Me thinks (& hope!) that excluding Figgy from the list will prove a giant Ooops!

Agree CD. Twelve Big East players on the list ahead of LJ including the freshman Yurtseven from Gtown seems off. Also kind of telling that both Gillespie & Bey made it for Nova over Samuels, who is believed by many around BE to be Nova's best returning player.

FYI Yurtsseven is a redshirt Jr. who already averaged 13.5 ppg and 6.7 rpg in just 24 mpg in the ACC. Not quite a frosh.

Not making any judgements on the other players just wanted to point that out.

LJ is a great basketball player. This means he plays a team sport and does all of the elements of his role, well. In my book, LJ is top 5 player in Big East. A lot of guys that make these types of lists often are one dimensional or flashy and/or don't play defense, run the floor 100% or take 50/50 and all the little things that win games for the team, like a mission. They don't necessarily make a team better despite their stats.

LJ deferred a lot last season but his offense was very efficient. I believe it was the highest on the team but I remember for certain that it was (statistically) higher than either Ponds or Heron. He also led the team in rebounding. I think he can make a bigger impact this season but you never know how people will react to a situation. He should be taking more shots. If he doesn't force and keeps that efficiency he will be huge. His FT wasn't terrible but room for improvement. But he took very few so taking more shots he should also draw more fouls and get more FT attempts. I would think at the end of the season he'll be on most people's top 5.

Thanks Austour. I knew he was a transfer from NC State who had one good year with them; that was a major brain cramp on my part using the word freshman! I still would not have rated him above LJ though.

All due respect to Heron but there’s no doubt who our best player is. .
