Off Season Tidbits

Must have been a great night for Coach at MSG. Portis had 28 points and 11 rebounds in Knicks first win! Barret with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists.

Great shot ... but for a moment, I thought I was looking at Frankie Lyman & the Teenagers (who were fabulous, by the way).
First album that I ever bought was "Why Do Fools Fall In Love" by Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers in the mid 50's. Damn I am getting old.
Me too, Panther -- the one with them wearing white sweaters with a big T. But the truth is, we're not getting old; we are old. But that's OK, we've got lots of great memories, including regular 20+-win seasons and annual NCAA appearances -- and maybe a few more to come. :)

Time for me to find and bump my posts that Barrett would be much better than Zion.

I also would have believed Superstar Billy Graham & CMA at MSG.

LMAO, we are definitely old but as you stated, we have great memories. Looking forward to a few more while I am still hear to enjoy them.

Both Barrett & Ja Morant are sure off to wonderful starts.

Barrett averaging 21 ppg, 7.5 rebounds, 3 assists and shooting 50% from field and 47% from three. Ja averaging 18 ppg, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals on 50% shooting. Would love to be at Garden the first time Ja comes to town this year. Would have been fun to be there last night as place looked electric just watching the highlights on ESPN.

Mike A got a lot of screentime on MSG broadcast down the stretch last night because Bobby Portis had the game of his life with his coach there. Was a feel good story

Based on what I saw at Duke, I thought RJ would suck. I have been surprised so far. The difference I have seen, is that at Duke, he was trying to prove to scouts he had worked on the weaker parts of his game. He forced far too many threes, and tried too hard to prove he was a facilitator as well.

On the knicks, he was played much more within himself. Has played to his strengths. If he can get his free throws down, and knock down a couple 3s a game, we may have a star on our hands.

Knicks forward Bobby Portis told me this recently about new St. John's coach Mike Anderson, his college coach: “He has a gritty mentality, grind and grit. He’s a blue-collar coach. He loves blue-collar players and I think New York City is a blue-collar city." #sjubb

I thought Barrett was tailor-made for the NBA. I think he's going to be a stone-cold assassin by his mid-20s. I'm not sure how many teams tried to fleece the Knicks out of the third pick, but I definitely would have tried. I thought the Zion hype was too much, but I still expected a decent career. I'm not sure his body holds up, though. He's needs to get down to 255-260 pretty damn quickly.
This is off tidbits but why are several topics locked
The only non-notification thread that is locked is the game thread. The game thread gets unlocked at game time. Until then use the pre-game thread. Thanks to Knight who manages this.
Replay of msg 150 just started on MSG. CMA will be on soon.
The interview can be seen on line at "MSG-GO". If you haven't used before, you need to "register" but it is simple as even I could accomplish it.
CMA is truly down to earth and very comfortable with the interview. He is not a self promoter and he certainly didn't come across as a person out of place in the "big city".

I watched it on TV and it was great. Did the link you mentioned include the part during Portis’s interview when CMA surprised him? It was another nice touch and some good pub.
