Nice to see the old UA gear being put to good use.
[quote="Paultzman" post=358709]QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 26, 2019) – The St. John’s Athletics Department in conjunction with The Beck Foundation joined forces with Hope 4 Hope Town and hosted a week-long clothing and shoe drive to support Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. Hope 4 Hope Town, an organization headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is committed to assisting with a rebuild of the Northern Bahamas in the aftermath of the category five storm that struck in early September.
St. John’s student-athletes, coaches, staff and members of the community donated more than 50 boxes of apparel weighing in at nearly 1,500 pounds to support those in need in the Bahamas. As part of the initiative, the Red Storm offered additional incentive to rally behind the worthy cause by offering fans who donated new or gently used clothing items and shoes complimentary admission to men’s and women’s soccer matches at Belson Stadium earlier this season.
Upon conclusion of the drive, the St. John’s equipment and operations staff and members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee organized, packaged and coordinated delivery of the goods to a local UPS store to send to Hope 4 Hope Town headquarters who were handling delivery and distribution in the Bahamas.
