Obekpa Suspended

I would really be pissed off ,if we have him on our team next year. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me

W/O obekpa:

He fouled out against Gonzaga with us down double digits, we proceeded to come back

He missed game against Creighton at MSG. We destroyed Creighton that day

He missed our win against DePaul, where DLo grabbed 10 boards and Dom grabbed 11, Amar had 4 boards

And then of course he missed the nova game

Ok?

Call me crazy but I think that Jordan and CO both come back next year. Jordan because Lavin will promise him the keys to the car which will guarantee him to be slotted in the first round with guaranteed money with the numbers that he will put up. Jordan is not on any draft boards right now. CO on the other hand has no choice but to come back now. He comes back cleans up his act and improves his game. He is on some draft boards but very low in the second round. After this debacle he might fall out anyway.

He also missed Nova game where it looked like when I play nerf basketball vs my 5 year old and we got manhandled and lost by 95 points. In fact Nova just scored again down low I think.

Would have like our chances in 1st round with him and to be competitive vs Duke.
Now who knows what happens in 1st game and if we do win we have no shot vs Duke with the three headed crap monster at center.
Whatever, just happy we are in, but not having him is not a good thing in anyway

Wasn't trying to allude to that at all. Adam asked what happened without obekpa this season and I was mentioning the games we did not have him and also named the Gonzaga stretch because well why not he fouled out with like 10 minutes left. And I mentioned the nova game too.

From reading the last couple of posts, I'm getting the impression that "just because everyone else is doing it, makes it okay."

That's nonsense. I'm not judging him, but he couldn't wait until the season was over, if he needed to get high that bad?

I'd like to read an article explaining how the test is administered. It seems that this school has had two out its last three appearances impacted by failed drug tests while other schools never have anyone. It's about a level playing field.

CO is def a game changer on D, but this loss is unfortunately just as much about who now has to play. Those three guys might be the worst players to ever play a meaningful minute in a tourney game for us. Seriously we should see if Terry Bross, Sean Muto or Marco Baldi have any eligibility left

Seems like Syracuse had many failures that weren't reported.

Committee stated they knew last night of infraction and adjusted slightly.
They moved them so Duke is at least is a lock to at least win 2 games. This is bull and is business as usual. We need to bump things up, we need a revolution.Let the ncaa know that this blatant favoritism will not go unpunished.
SJU players who do not have a realistic chance at the nba, which is most of them, have a real opportunity to do something good for the game they love. PUT OUT OF COMMISION AS MANY DUKE PLAYERS AS POSSIBLE. Send a message that we are not sheep, we will fight back.
Be prepared to permanently silence Bilas, Vitale, and anyone that works for espn if the opportunity presents itself.
This is about good vs evil, just vs unjust. Rise and fight, fight for what is rightfully yours.

Dude, calm down.
we actually got a favorable draw. This is as good as we couldvery hoped for basically.
And Duke deserves their seed. They are one of the 4 best teams in the country. If we had a full squad I'd be ecstatic about our chances.

Couldn't have asked for a better draw.

Who? Duke playing at home? Get real! With this draw, even Obongpa couldn't have saved us. The only difference he might have made is to possibly prevent another embarrassing end of year blowout if we even got to Duke.

Positive spin: Our offense is much more efficient and up-tempo with the 4 guards and Sir'Dom. Obekpa brings very little on the offensive end. Therefore, we will score more points without him in the lineup. SDSU is challenged offensively. Therefore, what CO would have brought on the defensive end will be missed less than if we were playing against a potent offense.

While we will miss CO's rebounding, our guards are pretty good rebounders and will offset some of the impact.

Our worst showings in the last two years have been when there was some drama surrounding either Chris or Rysheed. We go into this game without having to worry about a CO meltdown. As long as Sheed is in the right frame of mind, we will be fine going into this game.

We need maximum energy and effort from Dom. Sheed will have a good game. If Phil and D'lo can hit the outside shots, we win.

Duke, on the other hand...

It really does not matter. If the staff warned the players as they approached tourney time about the test and its implications then he just didn't give a crap about his teammates and his future. No NBA team will touch him possibly even next year. If Lavin is still our coach I have no doubt he would welcome him back just as he did with Harrison and Jordan last year. It is just his nature a d the philosophy instilled in him by his dad Cap Lavin who taught him these kids are students first and athletes second. If there is a new coach announced in April I have no doubt his scholarship would be pulled in favor of a low level Juco. It is a sad situation all around.

Thanks. I'll say Gonzaga is too low a sample size to matter, though I think he also fouled out againt Fordham and we played better after? Creighton and DePaul aren't quality teams though we did lose the away games. The Nova game is still fresh in my mind.

What we need to hope is the team completely buys into running down every rebound and get enough rebounds on effort alone to get a win. I think we've done that before this year.

I agree. No chance whatsoever against Duke but if Harrison, Greene and Pointer play the way they have the past two games San Diego will just pound the ball inside and they will score at will. It is a crying shame neither Jones or Joey bring anything to the table except fouls.

A lot people here said the same thing about DLo a few years ago. It's ridiculous! He turned his life around and became one of the best in school history. I'm proud to have had DLo represent my school. If we threw him away, everything, including his life is very different today.

We do need CO and will be a better team with him. He didn't murder someone. I don't get this hatred from some posters here. Yes, what he did was selfish and stupid, ALLEGEDLY. But maybe we should hear what actually happened and see how he reacts to it?

We are a Catholic University. Forgiveness should be in our vocabulary.

Nothing puts more strain on your D and your offense-you feel you almost have to score every time, when you are getting ping ponged off the boards.

I actually blame myself for Obekpa situation, as I appear to be the gooch.
Knicks-no explanation necessary
SJU-Obekpa
Mets-Wheeler needs TJ surgery
Going to start rooting for Yankees, Patriots and Duke just to give them my fan stink

I'd want him back but with Chris this has been going on for 3 years now and at the worst possible times. I've never seen DLo refuse to go back into a game (like CO in BET last year). DLo did some stupid stuff but he always tried to win at least.
