Obekpa Suspended

Not showing up for last years NIT
Not showing up for Providence
Not showing up this years NCAAs
Time for Lavin not to show up for next year.
Unfortunately time for him to go!

You forgot to mention that the PLAYERS didn't show up for those games.

One of the dumbest things he could have done. Once again in the biggest moment of the season Obekpa is a no show. Except now it's the biggest moment in 4 teammates careers. Thanks for nothin.

I can't imagine he decided to try it earlier this week. People know the deal. Everyone is responsible in this instance.

Maybe CO thought St. John;s was in the island of Jamaica, and not Queens.

This all explains the 500 boxes of Oreos hidden under his old regulation size shorts. :)

He'd probably smile that dopey grin and say "Thems wasn't oreos."

Beast on a roll.! Frankly you are helping me feel better man!

If this was strictly a business decision and you consider Lavin the CEO, what board in their right mind would give him a extension? Honestly, he doesn't seem like he's that into the job. His recruiting the last two years has been inexcusable. Between what went on last summer, Keith Thomas, Jordan's nonsense, and now this, I believe that the school should just move on.

I'd buy him out and hire Cleuss.

Actually I always thought Chris was more of a roll player.

As head coach, Steve Lavin is the CEO of the St John's basketball program
He is ultimately responsible for everything that happens on and off the court
If he recruits kids that get into trouble, cause problems, etc, it's on him
He's had several documented problems with D'Lo, Jordan and Obekpa
He gave scholarships to kids who did not qualify to play (Thomas, ADR, etc)
Assuming we get in tonight, he has 2 NCAA appearances in 5 years
The first appearance was with kids that he did not recruit
We have done poorly in the B.E. tournament and he jokes about it
The team did not show up for the NIT game last year and was embarrassed
These kids were all highly rated and have underachieved at St John's
Would you give this guy an extension?
Not me. In the real world, most companies would fire someone with this track record
I never liked the hire but, regardless, it's time to move on and rebuild AGAIN!!

Is a CEO responsible for what his employees do outside of work?

Weed stays in the system for about 45 days. Many kids/people don't know that.

if he did it in the room that st johns pays for technically that's like smoking in your workplace

Considering the way Obekpa shoots, he could claim he has glaucoma and this was medicinal use.

Medical marijuana should at the very least be legally used for being a st johns fan in addition to glaucoma

To me we are at the point I don't care anymore. Again it's not 1 thing. This is just the icing on the cake of a bunch of things added up. Who knows. Maybe we win a game and Lavin salvages this recruiting class.

But I'm not just supporting blindly anymore. An extension needs to be earned by more than what we are currently seeing on and off the court
