Many of us have been diehard fans since way before you were in diapers, and will be long after your dad is in depends. (Cheap shot yes, but meant to be funny). We bleed as much as you, but for longer time. What else can we do at this point?
 
For one day I'd like D'Angelo to forget all the anger management stuff and beat the piss out of Obekpa.

No matter what his teammates may say in public, i can tell you that they're pissed as hell at CO. The player that told me a couple hours ago that it was weed also told me that in public they aren't gunna throw him under the bus however in private they are steaming.

Obviously I'm extremely disappointed with the new on CO. I don't know what happens with Lavin and the extension and all that but this is squarely on CO in my opinion. CO made a choice, a very poor choice! Lavin can't be on these kids 24/7. Yes, he did recruit them but he can only do so much. He has been strict with this group and we know he cares about the players. Personally, after D-Lo's bullshit and CO acting like an idiot, Greene wanting to leave after last season and Dom has certainly had his moments through his four years here, Jordan has been a drama queen from day he got here. The bottom line is that this group has been a pain in the ass for Lavin for day one. You can blame Lavin for recruiting them but as these kids went from Freshman to Sophs to Juniors to Seniors, at some point they have to mature and make good decisions and dedicate themselves to their craft and their schoolwork. They haven't totally done that and that's on these kids. Again, this group has been a giant pain in the ass with their inflated sense of themselves and always thinking and acting like they were better than they were and never really dedicating themselves and putting in the work needed in order to reach their full potential. There's only so much yelling and disciplining a coach can do. He can't cross a certain line, look what happened to Mike Rice. I'm Lavin has tried his best to get through to this bunch. We know one thing, Lavin does care about these kids. But, if you're a parent, you that sometimes you can't always get the results you want no matter how hard you try sometimes. At some point these kids have to step up and take responsibility. I for one, at this point now, are glad to see them all go!! I'm tired of their immaturity, selfishness and lack of discipline on and off the court. Let them all leave and let's just start anew next year with a totally different group because, in my eyes, this group has totally worn out their welcome here. Enough is enough. This is on these kids. SJU can do want they want with Lavin but these prima donnas that we have need to start taking responsibility for their failures and man up.

You can't blame the boss for the actions of 1 stupid kid. But you can blame the coach for continuing to bring in problems year in and year out. Suspensions and academic disqualifications are becoming way too commonplace for my liking.

As head coach, Steve Lavin is the CEO of the St John's basketball program
He is ultimately responsible for everything that happens on and off the court
If he recruits kids that get into trouble, cause problems, etc, it's on him
He's had several documented problems with D'Lo, Jordan and Obekpa
He gave scholarships to kids who did not qualify to play (Thomas, ADR, etc)
Assuming we get in tonight, he has 2 NCAA appearances in 5 years
The first appearance was with kids that he did not recruit
We have done poorly in the B.E. tournament and he jokes about it
The team did not show up for the NIT game last year and was embarrassed
These kids were all highly rated and have underachieved at St John's
Would you give this guy an extension?
Not me. In the real world, most companies would fire someone with this track record
I never liked the hire but, regardless, it's time to move on and rebuild AGAIN!!

If a manager hires a bunch of pot heads who get arrested, and therefore the project runs behind schedule or fails...then yes. That manager will be held responsible.

because he's lost control of the team. his players don't care. i don't care if obekpa robbed a string of banks, he did it because he doesn't care. this team is in the same position it was in when jarvis was here. ok, i'll say it..bring in bobby hurley.
