NY YANKEES - 2021

Another loss with their ace in the mound. That's big considering that King and Taillon are the starting pitchers today and tomorrow. Feeling like this series will become Tigers Part 2. The issue I have with Torres is the lack of baseball IQ in that moment. At least get your ass to 1B in the event it's not called a swing. He knew he did not foul the ball off, but chose to stand at the plate instead of hustling and perhaps making something of it.
But, if he was ruled not to have swung, it's ball four, and he gets first base anyway, so I don't understand what your point is.  And, if he does start running, that might be a tip off to the umpire that he did go (although he got rung up anyway, in this case).

Again, not running, had no impact on the game.  This was the rare time where that was the case.

Whatever. The optics on the play were bad to me.
That's not much of an argument, and it's also in the eye of the beholder (and I think you'd probably wouldn't be that upset about if Torres weren't something like 3 for his last 35).

Tangibly, it had no effect, and running hard might have eliminated any chance he had at getting the check swing call (which he didn't get anyway).

year 118.
in one of the greatest comebacks in yankee history, kraken goes deep, voit goes deep enough
thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhe yankees win another nail biter

if i could turn back time.
so they bring in britton this game and he fails.
so they let odor eater hit this game and he comes through.
i never would walk the bases loaded. unless ottov (00) was pitching

kraken is 6th in voting for catcher. a bullet on the billboard charts.

How ‘bout that Aaron Boone!

If you are refering to putting a runner on to give Chapman no room for error....

Where does he come up with this stuff?  Like I've said a number of times, this team is never winning a championship with him as Manager. He is absolutely horrible.

The Sanchise comes through again. MVP! MVP! MVP!   Don't follow close enough but can he make the All Star team if he keeps this up until voting closes? That would be something after his last few years and start to this season.

Tonight, I will get on Torres for his baserunning, but not for lack of hustle, just lack of smarts.

On that double play ball in the 8th inning, you can't keep running.  What you need to do is stop, and make the second baseman either flip to the shortstop for the force, or make the second baseman through to first, and have the first baseman then throw to the SS, to tag Torres.

Now, with the way that ball was hit, they might have been able to turn the double play anyway, but by letting himself get tagged for the out, Torres made it much easier for KC.

I honestly didn't like either option regarding the Santana AB in the ninth.  I think I might have thrown 2 pitches out of the strike zone to him, try to get him to chase, and if he doesn't, then I would have walked him.  But, I didn't see that situation ending in anything but disaster whichever way Boone went.

Now that being said, the team showed great resolve by coming back twice tonight.  Sanchez has been the catalyst, but Stanton is a close second right now.  Another line drive base hit to the opposite field late in the game for him (he did that Saturday too, to tie that game).  He's also walking a lot.  Those are the two things you usually see a lot of from him, when he is feeling good at the plate.

It also looks like Frazier may be getting hot.  He may just be one of those players you have to let play through his slumps.  Starting only 3 or 4 times a week does not appear to do him much good.

great post

That's how I like my Yankees games: victorious and drama-free. Top 6 hitters were plenty. Nice job by Taillon.

game 74. finally a laugher.
kraken - deserves an all star managers selection.
kraken is hot. stop the presses, as kraken used his noodle to tag up from 2nd and then scored.
wade stole a base. with kraken and wade the yankees are footloose.
a healthy voit will lead the pennant push.
stanton warming up. #99 is out of his slump.
bravo taillon for pitching into the 7th.
red thunder - i dont understand the love affair by many over his bat or glove.
every time red t hits a line drive, many fans see a joe d streak coming. he is a mendoza line hitter. .
red t treats the outfield walls as if they are covered with poison ivy.
watch 90% of the mlb outfielders - they catch the ball with one hand.
red t usually uses two hands with a prayer on his lips.

Aren’t you big on fundamentals?  Isn’t that catching with two hands? /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Need to win 2 of 3 in Beantown.  Play aggressive and hope that Sanchez, Stanton & Judge continue to hit.  Please, no stupid baserunning and fielding screwups.

Very winnable game lost by the Yanks to the Red Sux. 2 things they had to do well they did not. Poor baserunning and defense. Why send Urshela with no one out? German puts the Yanks in a big hole early, and then can't make a simple play that leads to the lead run. 2 for 9 with RISP. This team continues to tease Yankees fans.

Another problem is that, while we clearly played our best lineup in terms of talent, the fact that everyone of them bats righty made it very easy for the Red Sox pitchers to make adjustments.

As bad as Odor and Gardner are right now, I believe we have to tolerate their presence in the lineup, if just to give pitchers a different look (it does seem like we have a better record when at least one, and certainly both, are in there).

game 75.
another crappy outing by the yankee ace.
this game he lost it with his glove as well as his arm.
watching the yankee 9th was like watching the whole season.
men on second and first and no outs and no one gets to 3rd. ri(s)p. rip.
red thunder makes the first out. he fouled off about 5 two strike pitches
and then strikes out swinging on a ball both outside and low.
with his stats, red thunder should be the 5th outfielder and not start many/most games.
dj gets up and hits into a routine infield dp.
dj is batting 261. scores of points below his career average.
most yankee sticks are below their career batting numbers.
the yankee batting averages vs sox batting averages for this game.
sox were 194 points better. sox scoring 68 more runs than the yanks this year.
