NY YANKEES - 2021

game 39.
on armed forces day, the bronx bombers blasted the basement birds. 8 runs. 13 hits.
kraken robbed of a getty by a great catch. #99 had a getty.
yankee ace german was lights out.

game 40.
kraken and clint. back to back. belly to belly.

monty was very bad today. he should have been yanked in 2nd inning. he had nothing.
the bull bust did not help
frazier made a great catch in the 7th inning today.
but 2 of the most painful things to see is clint playing the outfield and red thunder running the bases.
happy birthday in he... to alfred manuel martin, a baseball legend.

This team is not very good at closing out series and getting sweeps. Montgomery showed why he can't be trusted. Team is 1 and 6 going for sweeps. At least 3 times Yankees pitching could not close out innings after getting the first 2 outs.  Orioles with 8 2 out hits. That's teally bad pitching. And the Yankees bats kind of went to sleep after getting 5 runs. You cannot continue to lose games when your offense gives you early leads! Just another bad loss.

When they bring Cessa in they are writing the game off!

How many losses are acceptable for you in a Yankee season?
I only ask because if they win 2 out of every 3 that's 108 wins.

108 wins would be great, but I just don't see it with this team. You need to get a sweep when you can to make up for bad losses and when you are swept at home by Tampa. Just my 2 cents.

Fair enough, but you are also of the opinion they aren't starting to hit yet.   If that's the case, then 2 out of 3 from anyone is a good weekend, no?

Stanton on the IL retroactive to 5/14. What a surprise!

It sucks.  No way around it.  But do you notice how frequently players are hurt the last few years.  Its absurd the number of players who are out at any given time.

I remember that players used to be discouraged from working out during the season with the notion that working out made their muscles to taught and thus subject to injury.

It's a contact sport. /media/kunena/emoticons/ermm.png

It's pretty obvious that any righty who can throw the ball 60 feet 6 inches is going to give this team trouble.  The softer one of those pitchers can throw it, the more trouble they will give us.

Team needs lefty power, and they need it right now.

Another loss tonight with their ace on the mound. Yanks are 5-4 in Cole's starts. Not good at all for games your ace is pitching. Last 7 batters 3 for 21. 4 hits in the kast 8 innings! That ain't going to get it done. Too many holes. This road trip can go south quickly here. Ugh. Taillon tomorrow. Going to need big starts from Kluber and German. Yanks hitters make bad pitchers look good, even in many cases when they win.

game 41.
cole did not have it. gave up 4 extra base hits before recording an out in the second inning.
voit's batting eye getting better with every game.
dj climbing in the mvp polls.

Its going to be a long season then.  70+% of starters in MLB this year are right handed.

Then maybe, we should go for it, and try to finish in the bottom 10.  That way, we can sign any free agent (although this is not going to be a big year for that), and not lose a first round draft pick.

Sometimes I wonder if not tanking in 2016 and 2017, when we were actually trying to do that, was the worst thing to happen to this franchise in the long term.

the great Mike Trout going on the DL with calf strain

will be out for 6-8 weeks

he's missed an average of 30 games a year due to injuries the last few years

Reminds me of a saying from late in the last millennium:
Baseball players don’t lift weights

Giancarlo is the 21st century equivalent of Eric Davis

game 42/
another great come from behind victory.
the great lefty lineup experiment.
4 yankee righty batters faced the righty pitcher. 3 runs scored.
then the yanks loaded the bases and another righty batter (dj) against a righty, knocked in 2 runs.
then the righty, again dj, mr mvp, against another righty knocks in another run.
again taillon is playing himself off a post season roster.
cy chapman was lights out.
happy b-day reginald martinez jackson

Gary possibly hurt as well.

And no happy bday to Reggie.  He left his cushy job with the Yankees to go work with the cheating Astros now
