NY YANKEES - 2021

I'm sure he'll deny it if asked, but Stanton has to be wondering if he made a mistake by not opting out in the offseason.

I know that it was the wise decision financially, but like Marcus Stroman said, piece of mind is important, and Stanton could have had a lot more of it, had he gone elsewhere.  Yes, he would have been roasted by the fans and media here for doing that, but that's happening anyway, so what's the difference?

It may come to the point soon, where the Yankees will just have to eat the money, and not care what they get back in trade.  When I say soon, I don't mean tomorrow, or next week.  Maybe another year or two if this keeps up.
What a boat anchor this has become, all because the Yanks are enamored with having one a star after another.  Well, this one backfired big time and now the Yanks are stuck.

game 14.
yanks left 5 runners on base in first 2 innings.
perhaps i should have turned game off then, and watch another episode of rebel.
kraken kraken kraken. fails to honor catching 101. keep throwing hand behind your back.
foul tip hits his exposed hand and he is taken out of game.
prior to bone head play he properly handled a thrown pitch in dirt with runner on.
higgy comes in and blows a thrown pitch in dirt with runner on and that sets up a ray run.
higgy throws poorly to try to get guy stealing (throw beats runner). yanks give up "4" outs that inning while the rays hit a 2 out 2 run homer in that inning. whata/coulda/shoulda.
monty gives up a 2nd row homer in the short right field porch. woulda/coulda/shoulda.

Joe, interesting you mention the 2nd row homer.  I know I am being overly critical and negative here, but it seems to me that Judge goes back to the fence very poorly, and he might actually grab some of those 1st & 2nd row dingers with his size.

BTW, Boone looks like a dead man walking......

Section 10's #3 starter leaves after 6 1/3 giving up *2 runs with the Yankees down 3-2

Judge has no clue on how to get to the wall to rob a home run just like he has no clue (with the rest of this team about hitting).

Cole and DeGrom should both sue their teams for lack of support, both on offense and defense.

The way they run their spring training continues to be a detriment and a reason for their slow starts.  You can’t just go through the motion.  Team is still badly put together and going for starters coming off of injury and counting on another one coming back was a bad strategy.

Hicks in the 3 hole has really ignited the line up. More analytics please. Boone has been a real boon to the team. Bring back Yogi. Just venting as rooting for Yankees feels akin to rooting for St. John's lately. /media/kunena/emoticons/sick.png

game 15.
paging dr fauci. paging dr fauci. need a vaccine to cure kraken-19.
3 more yanks have kraken-19. clint, hicks, boone. manifested signs - dumb plays.
top of 7th. the yanks starter has thrown 100 pitches. 2 lefties are up. cole stays in. another run scores.
top of 9th. chad and jeremy is pitching well. he gets yanked.
brings in darren oday and the little people with the short porch in right field and a lefty up. another run scores.
which number will be larger? stanton & kraken's combined 2021 home run total or SJU 2021/2022 season wins.

I'll go with the home runs since Stanton will have a few meaningless HR's in blowout games and will perfect his posing. How about this one? More combined strikeouts by that duo or total season points by Champ?

stanton's strikeout high is 211 for one season. kraken's strikeout high for one season is 125.
if champ does not break 336 points next season, then there will be many redmen bodies in the waters beneath the brooklyn bridge.

That’s not even analytics, that’s Boone wanting to fit a left handed bat at the top of the order and between Judge and Stanton.  Heck, when Hicks was out one game, Grady hit there.  It doesn’t change either when there is a lefty starter.

Cashman as GM has run its course (probably about a year or two ago at least) and Boone is not instilling any confidence.

game 16.
yanks covered the over/under on runs scored. it was one, yanks scored three.
yanks had one run/3 hits going into 8th.
the 2 run rally- walk, single, single, wild pitch, intentional walk, walk.
taillon pitched fine. 80 pitches. need him strong.
chapman the save.
loaisiga becoming the vulture. starter goes 4 or 5 and loaisiga gets the win with yank rally.

Not impressed at all with the win.  If Chapman walks the first batter on the 3-2 pitch instead of the K, I predicted this game would have gone sideways.  Wake me up when they're hitting and have won 6 straight!

game 17.
if you had the over in runs by yanks - which was one - you lost. a shutout.
the yanks biggest rally was a single and 2 walks in same inning.
i was screaming for kluber to be taken out three batters sooner than boone yanked him.
throwing a ball ankle high seldom gets called a strike.

Not impressed with Cashman, Boone or the Yankee team.  Unbalanced batting order, horrible defense and terrible fundamentals.
I base this on what I have read, because I am no longer a regular viewer.

I wish they wouldn't have let Didi walk. He's exactly what this team needs. Good defense, Athleticism, and left handed power. Tightens the swing on 2 strikes, and was such a morale booster in the clubhouse. Shame they didn't see the value in keeping him. Torres is not the long term answer at short.

Agree 1,000%.  Not signing Didi was huge.  Getting Stanton just crazy stupid.  Never understood that lunacy.  One mistake after another by the Steinbrenner's and Cashman.  Don't understand what the plan is.  Got lucky with some guys having career years a few years ago, and now they are all proving the back of their baseball cards were not lying.  This team is a mess!

FWIW-
Yankees have been held to 5 hits or fewer in 5 straight games.

The only other times that happened within a season was 1908 (6 games) and 1973 (5 games).

game 18.
one of the biggest comebacks in recent yankee history.
yankee ace german stops the bleeding.
after the yankee defense has a crappy first inning, german is terrific as he scatters 3 hits and a walk over 5 innings.
yanks get eleven, yes 11 hits.
chad and jeremy masterful as he was 3 up, 3 down against the teeth of the powerful indians order. no ball left the infield.
gardy leaves bases full in back to back plate appearances.
odor eater gets 2 hits, extending cashman for another week.

Yanks have the 2nd worst .OPS in all of baseball.
Yesterday's "outburst" leap-frogged them from dead-last to 2nd to dead-last.

game 19.
deja vu, all over again.
yanks give up 3 in first. yanks starter wakes up in the 2nd inning. yanks bats wake up also. different bullpen each inning.
hicks gettys. hicks fan club exhales.
odor eater gettys. cashman fan club exhales.
stanton gets a getty and a ballantine blast. stanton fan club exhales.
boone wisely yanks monty after 4 2/3 innings. boone fan club exhales.
the chad and jeremy and darren oday and the little people fan clubs, looking for more than a handful of members.
