Thanks to all for the clarification regarding his classes.

(And, Newsie, I'm not trashing anyone; I've never trashed any of our kids, here or anywhere else. I desperately want to see Pelle in a St. John's uniform in December, but, unlike Amir, I never get a sense of his passion about it.)

Just because he isn't as emphatic about it on his twitter account doesn't really mean much at all. His verbal commitment and the LOI he signed should tell us enough. He never de-committed after being ineligible and never re-opened his recruitment. Just because he's a bit more guarded with his tweets doesnt mean much. I sense he's a kid who is just disappointed he's in limbo right now, and a bit homesick being neither wi his SJU fam nor back home. That's pretty normal. He's at Phelps for the sole purpose of getting qualified to play at SJU this December. Seems pretty committed to me right now. Think he should be supported.

Marcus, I think he should be supported too, and if I sounded a little cranky about him, it's only because I see him as a crucial piece of the puzzle -- the kind of player we haven't had in ages -- and the waiting, uncertainty, his homesickness (understandable), and the lack of "rah-rah" quotes from him (maybe not his style) have been driving me up the wall.

Understood. I too think he's a pivotal player. Just know that he was at our MM last week, is still committed and trying to get eligible for December. Heck, I was homesick my first year and I lived at Stony Brook. It's an adjustment period, and this kid really is in limbo. Amir can be rah, rah because he also has a million dollar contract and is riding high. Norvel is stuck in Philly right now, by himself and not at home nor with his SJU teammates. I don't expect him to be too enamored of his situation right now. Hopefully he's in a more reflective and focused state at this point and wanting to get all of this behind him in the next 2 months. Nothing else we can do. I'm still hopeful at this point that we'll see him in December.
 
People here are analyzing everyones tweets and if they read their own Facebook status updates they'd realize they were crazier than these kids ( and I include myself in this group )

 Also gave a s,o to san diego st. Just seens odd that he has been in lLA for the past week. Is school not in session in philly, or has he moved back to california?

School not in session, trimester is over. Norvel seems excited to play in college next year, but his SDSU comments aren't entirely reassuring. I still think he'll probably be at SJU next year and Lavin and co. will keep on top of him. He's made comments recently about realizing why he left the west coast. Still don't care for the SDSU stuff even though I know he has friends there etc..
 
 Is there still a chance he joins team in dec. i know he was working towards it.

No idea, but gut feeling based on Norvel talking about "next year" in college tells me no. Like I said prior though, as long as he's headed to SJU, I dont mind if he comes next year. I just don't want to lose this kid. He's quite a talent. I think Garrett will be here I. December though, and even that one extra top level player would help our depth situation tremendously.

From the looks of the doc within that link exams for 1st trimester don't start until 11/15. It is confusing why he is in Cali for so long.
 
 If he has resigned himself to start his college career next year, then he would have until next august to complete his studies. it just seems strange that he would start at phelps and then move back to california. i guess we will learn something soon enough.

But in all seriousness, at some point you just have to suck it up. He still has to do postgrad whether it's here or in LA. Is he not making any friends at Phelps? You'd think between studying and hanging with the basketball team he'd have little time to mope around.

He is just a lonely teen in a new world. His situation is similar to a 18 year old drafted into the military during the draft days. You end up in a place you do not want to be with new people you have little in common with and just cannot wait to get back home to your girlfriend or friends.
If he is back this Thursday I am not worried.

 I dont know, it just doesnt sound like he is heading back, but i obviously could be wrong....just none of his tweets make it sound like he is heading back to PA. Time will tell
 
he says "get at me in ny" in another tweet. That sounds pretty encouraging to me. Also talks about focusing on "gym and books." Pretty sad that I'm a 35 year old man stalking some kid's twitter, but I guess I'm in good company : :blush:
