I'm not on twitter, but didn't Pelle seem like he hated Philly during the summer? (Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, though.) If that's the case, he definitely wouldn't be prepping there.
That said, I want to believe him, but I'll have to wait until I see him here. I've seen too many kids refute de-commits in the past several years, and most turned out to be liars about it.
I had visions of a St. John's version of Marcus Camby anchoring the middle for several deep tournament runs. Hope it somehow works out.

This is the best news that we've had in a while...Norvel is going to be a difference maker whether it's in December or next year....We have a huge hole at C so he'd get plenty of minutes developing under an NBA level staff, playing in the media capital of the world in NYC, at MSG and in one of the best basketball conferences in America

The source said he was still under the impression that Pelle wanted to attend St. John’s, but it was unclear when he might become eligible.

I still want Norvel on board here for 2012. I hope he stays committed to Lavin and SJU. Postponing his arrival til next year is no biggie. With the entire year to prep I have little doubt he'll get qualified. Bummer he can't suit up this year, but a little more maturing won't hurt the kid. It spaces out our scholarships a bit more as well. If we get Garrett this December and Pelle next season, I'll be extremely happy with the way this thing ended up, only losing Jakarr. I take the fact that he is prepping in Philly as very good news in SJU's favor and that he's likely to stay on board with SJU.
I don't count on too much real noise in 2012 if we can't add another strong post player to our current group.
We should have excellent guards ( with depth ), excellent forwards in Harkless, Pointer and Gathers ( need another one like Jakaar or Garett ) and a solid post in GG, but we need some help at the 5.
