Storm Tracker, i did not find any part of Beast's post condescending at all. He just listed reasons why he think Mullin clearly cares about this job, and also listed how he thinks Mullin can turn this around.
Honestly, i understand the frustration of many of you. to be honest, if Shamorie Ponds stays in the draft I'm not sure Mullin will ever get us to an NCAA tournament. That's bad.
I understand the frustration with Mullin. i am pretty frustrated too. Butler hired some alum basketball player who went 11-24 in his only year of coaching and he somehow had Butler one shot away from maybe making the Sweet 16. Just makes me feel like this has to do with culture. We just don't have a winning culture here. We never have had a winning culture since I've been fan, and it isnt easy to just reverse it. Look at DePaul, they are just stuck in the mud, and they don't look like they will ever get out of it, even with a billion dollar arena or however much it cost.
I remember when we got killed by Gonzaga in 2011, after the game Lavin said "these seniors don't even realize what they just did for the St. John's program"
what he meant was, that group and that season was supposed to be the season that brought back the winning culture. But Lavin could not capitalize, even with talented rosters.
I don't know, I want to say Shamorie Ponds will return and be a National Player of the Year candidate and lead us back to relevancy and back to a winning culture, but who knows. Things just do not seem to go right. During the Lavin years, I was always optimistic, mostly because D'Angelo Harrison's passion and heart made me a believer. Without Ponds, Im not sure I believe we can go anywhere.
Mullins job security, his success, it might all hinge on #2, in fact i think it does
