NIL

The NCAA doesn't know anything except to make money for the big schools. Always playing the ignorance card.
The NCAA has opened "Pandora's Box" which mythology refers to as a source of great and unexpected troubles.

NCAA did what the lawmakers would have forced them to do but of course did it with no thought. As I said before, their soon to be ex-President Mark Emmert is like Nero, playing the fiddle while Rome burned. They could have planned for this along with placing rules and FAQs behind it instead of just rolling it out. Now the cat is out of the bag and they are clueless as to what to do.

I have been thinking about this NIL situation would like to share my thoughts with the members of this board. We may not be Duke or Kentucky, but suppose each member contributed a certain amount each year, for arguments sake, let's say $500.00. We could give this money to our resident financial genius, MJ Maher to invest and use it for our very own NIL for Men's basketball. It will not add up to millions, but if we got $130,000.00 that would be $10,000.00 for each player. Every little bit helps.

Any feedback would be appreciated,

If we could get everyone on this board to give a certain amount of money , either monthly or yearly for an NIL I’m in.

Good article and thank you for sharing.
Basically it says we must cheat or fall behind and falling behind is not an option. So we must find the right balance where we can cheat but not get caught. A sad state of affairs. What should have happened is that the NCAA allocated a portion of their fortune on an annual basis to be split among all athletes.

$13M for FBS schools will be pennies in short time. It probably already is. Once there is NCAA breakaway it will be 10 x.

Beyond FBS. all this money filtering directly to players and it remains to be seen what financial impacts it will have on the schools raising less money for donations.

I see St. John's fans are trying to get something going with " Storm Marketing" and some of the players are now posting they are benefitting directly. Kind of weird to me that end of bench players and redshirts are even getting direct money.

I can't see myself ever directly contributing to NIL groups but can understand and respect why others may.

$10K per player? That wouldn't even buy you a third-string point guard at Duke... ;)
