NIL’s

To me at least the dots you are trying to connect are very far apart. NIL gives kids who largely never had much at all, some serious money. Point shaving had gamblers like Jack Molinas give kids with nothing a few hundred or thousand bucks to not affect the outcome of games, just the point spread. It's a really big stretch to suppose a college athlete who now has an income source would risk both thst income and his livelihood by trying to gamble and impact the spread.

Interesting thought on your part, but to me if you list all the things wrong with NIL, the increased risk of the renaissance of point shaving would not exist on my list.
"NIL gives kids who largely never had much at all, some serious money."
You also used terms like point "shaving", point "spread", "big stretch", income source and livelihood.
Interesting thought on your part, but I think you are referring to NIL as it compares to OnlyFans.

Rocket has set a redfans record for most references to porn and probing butts in a day today and he's already trying to break that record tomorrow with this post after midnight :)

There's not a whole lot of recent stuff on the web regarding NIL Compliance. I did find this recent Boston U Law Review article written by a professor of Sports Management at Arkansas who also spent 8 years on the athletics compliance staff at Baylor (of all places). It's a slog, but I found it to be an interesting read. It concentrates on what the NCAA restrictions on NIL are and what universities can do to stay in compliance. Reading the rules, it's clear that they are being ignored/honored in the breach. The article claims that the NCAA intends to enforce the restrictions with a guilty until proven innocent stance. We've all seen how the NCAA typically enforces its regulations with the big fish mostly skating and schools like SJU (remember Abe Keita) being made examples of. I wonder if a school like ours might be more cautious than others knowing that they could be more likely than some of the big fish to face actual consequences for a misstep; just a wild ass guess but who knows.

Ignore if posted already.

Market for A-10 (high mid major) cornerstone starter according to an A-10 team is $50k/annually. That seems to jive with other other articles posted.

It’s a data point take it for what it is worth.

The Comprehensive, yet Succinct, History of NIL

General Sentiment: "So much money is being generated and yet the players get nothing. Not fair"

NCAA: "Okay fine, the players can get paid. However, the players and the school will have to find their own revenue streams because we're still not sharing the big pot of television and gate sales."

Players: Not exactly what we meant but, fine....I will try to get mine.

Fans: "What the F__k! Now I have to pay more?"

The big question for the fans is WHAT are they paying more for??

The original intent was to allow corporate sponsors to pay athletes for endorsements.
Now it's about how much more can we squeeze out of the average fan.

Can a school have more than one NIL source?

Wondering if schools will release the $ amount of NIL’s that get paid out each year to their “student” athletes?

Does the school legally even have any right to know those numbers? I assume that's what they would tell the NCAA if they came snooping around.

Don't think we'll ever 100 percent really know who's being paid what unless some legislator gets some bug up their ass thinking that NIL is more important than literally any other issue they have on their plate.

I gotta believe the school has some knowledge of the amounts being received. After all, they’re the one assisting in setting these kids up with NIL’s.

Wonder if schools require FAFSA to be filled out when giving an athletic scholarship as the school might be able to collect some of the funds. If so, students might need to disclose that on the FAFSA
