NIL’s

Serious question because I have no idea and have been wondering. Are college basketball players even required to attend classes anymore?
Were they ever other than at the individual institution level? I'm pretty sure you can "take" a class and as long as you pass the tests then you get a grade.

I suspect every school is different just like they’ve always been. I don’t think any of us are following the Johnnies due to devotion to the scholar athlete tradition any more than we were in the Mullin Berry years.

I was just curious if it's changed more drastically in recent years.

It seems clear that NIL Collectives will disappear post House settlement.

“Utah’s AD announced the school will take over NIL fundraising, activation, and payments from its collective.

Another example of a collective being shut down/going “in-house” with the House settlement on the horizon.”

@WinterSportsLaw
I'm not 100% sure of that, but if that happens, do all NIL donations become charitable gifts?

On that note, Storm Marketing deserves enormous credit for the incredible support they provided over the past 4 seasons. Their business model for their law firm includes Storm and as such the tremendous NIL effort they put forth increased the firms visibility and contributed to its growth. If their NIL collective goes away, at the very least deserve a chapter in the story of our program's renaissance.

great to see... but next years roster is gonna need a lot more than 2mm... that wont keep Zuby and RJ lol
The million dollar match is in addition to everyone's normal contribution (including Repole), the other Storm Marketing and Flat Top Fund fundraisers, the Players Era Vegas tourney which is another million dollars, and whatever other NIL is collected along the way. Very realistic that next year's team will be more expensive than this years, and by a decent margin as well
