New York Mets 2025 Season

Disagree, these are pros who WERE right in a divisional race coming into this series. They don’t begin to belong in the playoffs if they let down. They are a below .500 team since June 1, that is just a bad baseball team.
Their veteran starters have let them down big time, not to mention the meltdowns from the bullpen. Their pitching and lack of clutch hitting has set them up to even blow the wild card.
We benefit from it, but hate that the extra wild card gets us in.

At the stadium today. Spent much of the game walking around. Have been to too many of these games this season.

Not resigning Iglesias was a mistake he brought a good vibe to the clubhouse like a Ray Knight.
Digested down to the crux. Could not agree more. I would add Bader also. Tough, day in and day out competitive guys, seemingly a dying breed.
IMO, Knicks did the same thing signing Bridges and trading for Towns, exchanged stats for winners.

Completely disagree. There is no worse feeling than having a great season and not making playoffs

Unless you are saying you think the ncaa tourney should be only conference winners. As crappy as we have played you are what your record says you are. If that gets us in great if not then we deserve not to be in but it’s not like baseball is watered down compared to other sports

The pennant race use to mean something. The sport is now a playoff sport. They will go to 8 teams with expansion and four teams per division. I wouldve left it at 5 teams that they had few years. Now it’s just get in and will take our chances. Had wildcard existed in the 80’s they’re in every year from 84-90, I get that. Personally would like the majority of analytical folks driven off the Whitestone but that’s me.

not sure it would need to be fake. Something has to be wrong
The question with Senga was always whether he could “carry the load” so to speak. Japanese pitchers literally pitch ONCE a week. The Mets have done all you could do to protect him. Mindset or injury I don’t know. They can’t continue to build around him. He hasn’t proven durable.

To think that we aligned our rotation for 6 man to keep Senga “fresh”. He’s been a stiff for the last two months.

Mendoza has to take some criticism here along with pitching coach Jeremy Hefner. Our starting pitching and bullpen are sucking wind. Why?

The “letdown” from efforts from Holmes (he was the worst as he didn’t hustle and looked disinterested), Peterson (Steven Matz disease who couldn’t stop the bleeding) and Senga who doesn’t want to challenge hitters. This was a classic, Mets lack of urgency series. No one seems upset. We get the same canned BS comments. No idea what this team is.
Listening to his post game interview, I think he is hurt again.

Yeah. Of course he always talks about his mechanics and his lower body not being in sync. I wouldn’t count on him going forward. They’ve put in a whole plan around his “availability” and it’s not working. Over a 6 ERA over his last 7 starts. That’s significant.

Mets September call-ups are Hagenman and Acuna. I think those are the right moves. Justin Young has been crushing the ball for Syracuse, but Acuna is just too valuable as a late inning pinch runner and defensive replacement.

Sproat had perhaps his best outing of the season this weekend back as a starter. Him going back to starter may mean he take a start for Senga??

Mets get 1st two on. Pete swings at anything and hits into easy DP. Nimmo of course rolls over a nice easy groundout. Of course, unlike the Mets Tigers survive the toss between 1B and P. Mets bat for 10 minutes get NOTHING.

1st Tiger up HR. 1-0 Tigers. That sums up the last month. Always in deficit.

Mets seem to have a ton of “frontrunner” hitters. One of the reasons for their many lopsided wins.
Now up 2-1 but Lindor, Soto, Alfonso and Nimmo 0-4 RISP after 2 innings. Torrens with the 2 RBI hit.
